This document provides essential instructions for the safe operation and maintenance of the Baby Trend 1871CT Stroller Travel System. Always read the full manual before use. If you experience any difficulty, contact Customer Service at (800) 328-7363 between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm Pacific Coast Time.
- Safety Warning: Never leave the child unattended. Always use the safety harness.
- Weight Limits: Maximum stroller capacity is 45 lbs. Basket capacity is 5 lbs. Parent tray capacity is 3 lbs.
- Prohibitions: Do not use on stairways or escalators. Do not use the stroller as a toy.
Assembly
Before use, you must install the front wheels, rear wheels, child tray, and parent tray.



- Front Wheels: Lean the stroller backward. Position the front wheel assembly onto the front tube until it locks. Pull to ensure it is secure.
- Rear Wheels: Slide the rear axle assembly onto the rear legs until it locks. Slide each wheel onto the axle, secure with the Locking Cap, snap on the solid cap, and then the hub cap.
- Child Tray: Push the tray onto the post at the end of the right armrest while pressing the snap button. Rotate downward until it latches onto the left armrest.
- Parent Tray: Align the tray slots with the stroller frame slots and slide down until it locks.
- Canopy: Slide the male ends of the canopy into the female slots on the stroller frame.
Securing the child
The stroller features a 5-point harness with 3 height positions.

- Select the shoulder strap position level with or below the child's shoulder.
- Place the child in the seat, bring the harness around the waist and over the shoulders.
- Insert the male ends of the shoulder/waist belts into the crotch strap buckle.
- Tighten the harness to be snug.
- To release, apply pressure to both sides of the male clips.
Car seat attachment
To attach the Baby Trend Infant Car Seat:

- Recline the stroller seat all the way back.
- Ensure the front child tray is firmly attached.
- Position the car seat facing the rear of the stroller.
- The seat shell must go into the front tray and latch into place.
- Turn the tabs on the stroller frame to lock the front of the car seat.
- Always verify the car seat is firmly locked before use.
Adjustments and operation
- Seat Back: Use the cord and spring-loaded adjuster behind the seat to recline or raise the seat. The upright position is only for children at least 6 months old.
- Handle: Press the round buttons at each end of the handle to adjust to the desired position.
- Brakes: Apply light downward pressure to the brake lever on each rear wheel to engage. Ensure the stroller does not move. Lift the lever to release.
Folding and unfolding
To Fold: Close the canopy. Place the seat in the furthest recline position. Flip the car seat support tabs to the outside of the frame. Slide the red fold lock with your thumb while squeezing the large red fold button in the center of the handle and push forward. The stroller will lock automatically when folded.

To Unfold: Slide the red fold lock while squeezing the large red fold button and push down on the handle.
Cleaning and maintenance
Clean the seat pad using only mild household soap or detergent and warm water on a sponge or clean cloth. Air dry. Regularly check for loose screws, worn parts, or torn material. Replace parts as needed.

Common problems
Check that weight limits are not exceeded (Basket 5 lbs, Parent Tray 3 lbs, Total 45 lbs) and that the stroller is fully erect and latched.

Ensure the seat is in the furthest recline position and that the car seat support tabs are flipped to the outside of the stroller frame.
