Quick Guide

The Bella 1.5 Quart Slow Cooker is designed for countertop use to cook food at low temperatures over extended periods. It features three settings: LOW, HIGH, and WARM. Always ensure the stoneware pot is placed in the base before turning the unit on. Never use the stoneware pot on a stovetop or open flame.

Getting to Know Your Slow Cooker

The unit consists of the following main components:

• Lid handle: For lifting the glass lid.
• Glass lid: Covers the stoneware pot.
• Stoneware pot: The removable container where food is cooked.
• Slow cooker handle: For carrying the base unit.
• Power Indicator Light: Illuminates when the unit is plugged in and operating.
• Temperature setting knob: Used to select LOW, HIGH, WARM, or OFF.

Before Using for the First Time

1. Unpack the slow cooker and wash the stoneware pot and glass lid in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
2. Wipe the interior and exterior of the base with a soft, moist cloth. Never immerse the base, cord, or plug in water.
3. Perform an initial test run: Place the cooking pot inside the base, add 2 cups of water, cover with the lid, and plug in the unit.
4. Turn the setting to HIGH and allow it to operate for approximately 30 minutes.
5. Switch OFF, unplug, allow to cool, and discard the water. Rinse and dry the pot before use.

Operating Instructions

To use the slow cooker:

1. Prepare your recipe and place ingredients into the stoneware pot.
2. Cover with the glass lid.
3. Plug the unit into a 120V AC outlet and select the desired setting (LOW, HIGH, or WARM). The power indicator light will turn on.
4. When cooking is complete, turn the knob to WARM to keep food at serving temperature for a short period, or turn to OFF to stop cooking.
5. Always unplug the appliance when not in use.

Cooking Times:

• LOW: 8-10 hours.
• HIGH: 4-6 hours.

Hints for Slow Cooking

• Browning: Meats do not brown during slow cooking. Brown meats in a separate skillet before adding to the pot if desired.
• Liquids: Liquids do not evaporate as they do in conventional cooking. Reduce liquid amounts in recipes not specifically designed for slow cookers, except for soups and rice.
• Fat: High-fat meats can result in less flavorful dishes. Trim excess fat or use thick onion slices under the meat.
• Uniformity: Cut food into uniform pieces for even cooking.
• WARM Setting: Use only to keep cooked food at serving temperature. Do not cook food on WARM. Do not keep food on WARM for more than 4 hours.

Cleaning and Maintenance

Always allow the unit to cool completely before cleaning.

• Stoneware Pot and Lid: Can be washed in warm, soapy water or in a dishwasher. If food sticks, soak in warm, soapy water before cleaning with a plastic scouring pad.
• Base Unit: Wipe with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Never immerse the base in water.
• Storage: Ensure all parts are clean and dry. Store in a clean, dry place. Do not wrap the cord tightly around the appliance.

Safety Precautions

• Do not touch hot surfaces; use handles or knobs.
• Do not place the stoneware pot on a stovetop, in a microwave, or on a cold/wet surface, as it will crack.
• Do not use the appliance if the cord or plug is damaged.
• Keep the appliance and cord away from children.
• Do not use an extension cord.
