Important Information
Before attempting to connect your devices, ensure you have a LiNK (Bluetooth) model of the Kestrel 5700. This connection process is not compatible with standard Kestrel 5700 models; it requires an Elite or higher unit. For the best results, ensure both the Kestrel unit and the rangefinder are updated to the latest firmware version.
Setting up the Bushnell R5
- Install the Bushnell Ballistics App on your mobile device.
- Press the fire button on the rangefinder to turn it on.
- Open the app, click the B icon at the bottom, and connect to your R5.
- Navigate to the Main Screen and tap the gear icon in the top right to access User Settings.
- If you do not see the "Rangefinder" settings at the bottom of the menu, press the fire button on the laser to reactivate the device, as it shuts down after a few seconds of inactivity.
- Tap the Device mode setting until it displays AB External.
- Exit the settings menu and close the app to disconnect.
Connecting to Kestrel 5700 Elite
- Turn on the Kestrel unit.
- Press the top left (gear) button to access the Main Menu.
- Scroll down to Bluetooth, ensure it is set to ON, and press the center button.
- Verify that Conct is set to Device. If not, use the right arrow to change it.
- Highlight Name and press the center button. The device will display "Searching for Devices".
- If the rangefinder times out during the search, press the fire button on the rangefinder again to wake it up.
- When the device name appears, select it using the center button.
- You may rename the device if desired.
- Exit using the gear button. A Bluetooth symbol should appear in the top right of the Kestrel screen.
- Lase your target to update the Kestrel solution with the latest information.

Common problems
The rangefinder may have timed out due to inactivity. Press the fire button on the rangefinder to reactivate it before searching again.
The R5 shuts down automatically after a few seconds of inactivity. Press the fire button on the laser to wake it up so the settings appear in the User Settings menu.
