System Requirements

To successfully pair your devices, ensure you are using a LiNK-enabled (Bluetooth) Ballistics Kestrel model. This connection is compatible only with Kestrel 5700 Elite models or higher; standard Kestrel 5700 units are not supported. For optimal performance and connectivity, verify that both your Bushnell rangefinder and Kestrel unit are updated to the latest available firmware versions.

Configuring the Bushnell R5

Begin by installing the Bushnell Ballistics App on your mobile device. Power on the rangefinder by pressing the fire button. Open the app, select the B icon at the bottom, and establish a connection to your R5 unit. Navigate to the Main Screen and select the gear icon to access User Settings. If the Rangefinder settings menu is not visible, the unit may have entered sleep mode; press the fire button on the laser to reactivate it. Within the settings, toggle the Device mode until it displays AB External. Once configured, exit the menu and close the app.

Pairing with the Kestrel 5700

Power on your Kestrel unit and press the top-left gear button to enter the Main Menu. Navigate to the Bluetooth section and ensure it is set to ON. Within the Bluetooth menu, confirm that the Conct setting is configured to Device; use the right arrow key to adjust this if necessary. Select Name and press the center button to initiate the search. The screen will display Searching for Devices. If the rangefinder times out during this process, press the fire button on the rangefinder again to keep it active. Once the device name appears, select it using the center button. You may rename the device if desired. Exit the menu using the gear button. A successful connection is confirmed when a Bluetooth symbol appears in the top-right corner of the Kestrel screen. You can now lase your target, and the Kestrel will automatically update with the latest ballistic information.
