Getting Started

Before beginning the setup, ensure you have an active internet connection, a router acting as a DHCP server, and an operational Cisco Business Master Access Point (140AC, 145AC, or 240AC) with Mesh support enabled. You will also need the Cisco Business app or a QR code reader to scan the device's MAC address.

Installation and Setup

Preparing the Device: Connect the provided power adapter to the mesh extender and plug it into a power source. Press the power button to initiate the boot process. The status LED will cycle through red, amber, and green colors during startup.

Configuration via Cisco Business App: Download the app, connect to the Master AP's SSID, and follow the in-app instructions to add the new device.

Configuration via Web Interface: If not using the app, follow these steps:

  • Connect to the Master AP's SSID.
  • Launch a web browser and navigate to https://ciscobusiness.cisco.
  • Log in with your Master AP credentials.
  • Ensure Mesh support is enabled under Wireless Settings > Mesh.
  • Navigate to Wireless Settings > WLAN Users > Local MAC Addresses.
  • Click Add MAC Address and enter the MAC address found on the back of the mesh extender.
  • Set the Type to Whitelist and save the configuration.

Monitoring and Maintenance

Once configured, the mesh extender will upload firmware and join the network. This process may take ten minutes or more. A solid or blinking green LED indicates a successful connection. You can verify the device status by navigating to Wireless Settings > Access Points in the web interface. For advanced configurations or mounting instructions, refer to the official Cisco Business Wireless Access Point Administration Guide.
