Before using your Dualit Lite Kettle for the first time, fill it to the 'max' mark and boil. Discard the water and rinse with fresh cold water. Repeat this process 3 times to ensure the kettle is clean. Always ensure the kettle is unplugged before filling and that the water filter is correctly in position.
Safety Precautions
- Attended Appliance: Do not leave the kettle unattended during use. Unplug after each use to prevent fire risk.
- Water Level: Do not fill above the 'max' mark. Ensure at least 250ml of water is inside before switching on.
- Handling: Do not move the kettle while switched on. Use the handle and knobs; do not touch hot surfaces.
- Steam: Hot steam is emitted during heating. Keep away from the lid and spout to avoid scalding.
- Electrical Safety: Do not immerse the kettle, power base, or cord in water. Do not operate with a damaged lead or plug.
- Usage: Do not use in an appliance garage or under cupboards.
Getting to Know Your Kettle
The kettle features a spout with a non-drip design, a hinged lid with a ball knob, an easy-grip handle, an on/off switch, a power neon indicator, and a water filter to reduce limescale. The power base includes a cord tidy.

Setting Up and Filling
Place the kettle as close to a wall socket as possible. Use the shortest cord length necessary by wrapping excess cord around the base. Do not operate on an inclined plane or in a tray.

To fill the kettle:
- Ensure the kettle is unplugged and removed from the power base.
- Pull the knob up and towards the handle to open the lid.
- Fill through the lid opening, ensuring the water level is below the 'max' mark.
- Keep the kettle upright and level (maximum 15-degree incline).
- Push the lid down using the knob to close it securely.
Caution: Ensure water does not enter the steam tube during filling, as this may prevent the kettle from switching off correctly.
Boiling Water
- Plug the kettle into the power socket.
- Press the 'On/Off' switch down. The power neon will illuminate.
- The kettle will automatically turn off once the water has boiled.
- To turn off manually, lift the 'On/Off' switch.
- Wait 10 seconds after boiling before pouring to allow water to settle.
Note: If the kettle is accidentally switched on without water, the boil-dry protection will switch off the heating element. Wait 10 minutes for it to reset.
Cleaning and Descaling
Cleaning: Unplug and allow the kettle to cool. Wipe the outside and inside with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, bleach, or scouring pads. Ensure connectors and sockets remain dry.

Water Filter: Open the lid, pull the filter up and out, rinse under a tap while brushing with a soft brush, and replace by aligning with the grooves in the filter holder.
Descaling: Regular descaling is essential to prevent damage and maintain taste. Descale at least every 2 months (or more frequently in hard water areas). Use a suitable descaler following the packaging instructions. After descaling, rinse the kettle thoroughly, boil with fresh water, and discard the water.
Troubleshooting
If the kettle does not turn on, check the power connection and fuse, or wait 10 minutes for the boil-dry reset. If the kettle sputters, ensure you are not overfilling and wait 10 seconds before pouring. If the kettle does not switch off, ensure the lid is firmly closed and descale if limescale has built up. If water droplets appear on the power base, this is normal condensation.

Descale the kettle. Ensure the lid is firmly closed. If water entered the steam tube, unplug and let dry for 8-24 hours.
