This document outlines the procedure for updating the LCD firmware on the EG4 18KPV Hybrid Inverter. The process involves preparing a USB flash drive, downloading the correct firmware files, and performing the update via the communications board.

Formatting the USB flash drive

Before copying the firmware, the USB drive must be properly prepared:

• Plug the USB drive into your computer.
• Open File Explorer, right-click the drive, and select Format.
• Set the File system to FAT32.
• Set the Allocation unit size to 4096 bytes.
• Deselect the Quick Format checkbox.
• Click Start to begin formatting.

Downloading and preparing firmware

1. Download the EG4-18kPV-LCD-Firmware.zip file from eg4electronics.com.
2. Right-click the downloaded file and unzip it to your desktop.
3. Open the unzipped folder; it should contain two folders and one PDF.
4. Copy the DWIN_SET folder.
5. Paste the DWIN_SET folder onto the root of your prepared USB drive.
6. Safely remove the USB drive from your computer.

Installing the update

1. Power off the inverter.
2. Insert the flash drive into the USB2 port located on the communications board.
3. Power on the inverter.
4. The update will begin automatically. The screen will display the start-up screen for several minutes.
5. After approximately 3 minutes, the screen will restart and return to the standard home screen.
6. Remove the USB drive from the communications board.

Verification

To confirm the update was successful, check the LCD Version number displayed in the lower-right hand corner of the physical display.
