The Fluval Flex 123L is a freshwater aquarium designed for indoor household use. This guide provides essential information for safe installation, filter setup, and ongoing maintenance. Always ensure the aquarium is placed on a sturdy, level surface capable of supporting over 135 kg (300 lbs) when filled.

Safety instructions
Important: To prevent electrical shock, always observe basic safety precautions when working with aquarium equipment.
- Drip loop: Always create a drip loop in the power cord below the level of the receptacle to prevent water from traveling along the cord and into the outlet.
- Indoor use only: This appliance is intended for indoor household use only.
- Freshwater only: Do not use this aquarium for saltwater applications.
- Cleaning: Always unplug the appliance before putting on or taking off parts and before cleaning. Never use soap or detergents to clean items placed inside the aquarium, as these are harmful to fish.
Installing your aquarium
1. Preparation: Carefully remove all components from the packaging and verify that every piece is accounted for and undamaged.

2. Cleaning: Thoroughly clean the interior and exterior of the aquarium using a cloth dampened with fresh water.
3. Placement: Position the aquarium on a specifically designed aquarium cabinet or stand. Use the provided anti-slip pad underneath the aquarium. Ensure the surface is level and away from direct sunlight, drafts, heat sources, or high-traffic areas.
Filter media and pump setup
1. Filter Media: Remove Carbon and Biomax media from their plastic coverings and rinse thoroughly. Insert the Carbon into the top compartment of the Foam filter block and the Biomax into the bottom compartment. Lower the entire foam filter block into the rear filter compartment.

2. Pump Connection: Push suction feet onto the base and slide it onto the underside of the pump. Screw the hose connector into the pump, attach the hose, and secure it with the locking thread. Affix the hose to the elbow, lower the pump into the rear corner of the filter compartment, and screw the output nozzle into the elbow.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance is essential for the well-being of aquarium inhabitants.
- Water changes: Remove at least 20% of the water once a week and replace it with tap water of a similar temperature, treated with Fluval Water Conditioner.
- Filter media: Replace filter media regularly to ensure optimum performance.
- Motor cleaning: Clean the impeller and impeller well every 3 to 6 months for optimum performance.
Filter Media Maintenance Schedule:
- Foam Filter Block: Rinse every 4-6 weeks in aquarium water only. Replace every 12 months.
- Activated Carbon: Replace every 2 to 4 weeks.
- BIOMAX: Rinse every 6-8 weeks in aquarium water only. Replace every 2-3 months.
