This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and efficient operation of the Husqvarna 235e and 240e chainsaws. Safety Precautions

Operating a chainsaw involves significant risks. Always adhere to the following:

• Personal Protective Equipment: Always wear an approved helmet, hearing protection, and protective goggles or a visor. Use gloves and trousers with saw protection.
• Kickback Prevention: Never let the tip of the guide bar touch any object. Kickback can cause the saw to jump violently toward the operator.
• Fuel Safety: Never refuel while the engine is running. Move at least 10 feet (3 meters) from the refueling point before starting.
• Handling: Always hold the saw with both hands. Never operate with one hand.

Assembly

To fit the bar and chain:

1. Ensure the chain brake is disengaged.
2. Remove the knob and clutch cover.
3. Fit the bar over the bolts and place the chain over the drive sprocket and into the bar groove.
4. Ensure cutting links face forward on the top edge of the bar.
5. Replace the clutch cover and tension the chain until it does not sag but can be turned by hand.

Fuel Handling

The machine uses a two-stroke engine requiring a gasoline and oil mixture.

• Mixing Ratio: 1:50 (2%) for all engines.
• Gasoline: Use good quality unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87.
• Oil: Use Husqvarna two-stroke oil formulated for air-cooled engines.

Starting and Stopping

Cold Engine:

1. Engage the chain brake.
2. Pull the choke/fast idle lever to the full extent.
3. Press the air purge bulb repeatedly until fuel fills the bulb.
4. Grip the front handle, place your right foot through the rear handle, and pull the starter handle until the engine fires.
5. Push in the choke and pull until the engine starts.
6. Quickly press the throttle trigger to set the engine to idle.

Stopping: Press the stop button.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for safety and performance. Refer to the maintenance schedule in the manual for daily, weekly, and monthly tasks, including:

• Chain Tension: Check every time you refuel.
• Air Filter: Clean regularly to prevent carburetor malfunctions and power loss.
• Spark Plug: Check and clean; electrode gap should be 0.020 inch (0.5 mm).
• Chain Brake: Regularly check the brake band for wear (minimum 0.024 inch/0.6 mm).
