Quick guide from the manual

The HUUM HIVE Wood sauna stove is designed for dry or wet sauna steam. Installation must be performed by a specialist, including the connection to the chimney. The stove requires sauna stones (not included) which must be washed before installation. The stove is intended for wood-firing only.

Installation

Installation must conform to local normative documents and European Union standards, including EN 15821:2010. Safety distances are critical for fire prevention:

Safety distances and installation dimensions for HIVE Wood models.
Safety distances and installation dimensions for HIVE Wood models.
  • Maintain safety distances A and B as specified in the technical table (1200 mm above the stove for combustible materials).
  • If installed in a niche of non-combustible material (stone, concrete), leave at least 100 mm between the wall and the stove for air movement.
  • The stove must be installed on a non-combustible surface.
  • Electrical equipment and wiring are not permitted in the safety area of the sauna stove.

Chimney connection

The flue gas outlet is located at the top of the stove. Connection to the chimney must be performed by a specialist. Use smooth connection tubes to maintain draught. The tube must be inserted through the chimney wall and sealed with heat-resistant sealing rope and mineral wool. Forced extract ventilation requires supervision by a licensed specialist.

Preparation for use

Use natural granite stones or special sauna stove stones. Wash stones clean before laying. Stone quantities required: 6 x 15 kg for HIVE Wood 13, and 9 x 15 kg for HIVE Wood 17.

Heating the sauna

Avoid overheating the stove; overheating is indicated when the furnace case glows red. If overheating occurs, close the ash tray and furnace door to stop the combustion process. Adjust air combustion by changing the position of the ash tray drawer. Keep the furnace door closed during heating. Do not splash salt water onto the stove, and avoid throwing hard water or water with high iron content.

Maintenance

For safe operation, keep cleaning accessories (shovel, broom, rake) in a cool part of the steam room. Empty the ash tray before each heating session. Clean the heating surfaces at least once every 20 uses. Clean the chimney and flues at least once a year. If the sauna has not been used for a long time, have a specialist check the furnace, grate, and ash tray condition.

Warranty

The warranty applies to manufacturing faults and covers heaters used according to the manual. It does not cover deformation of metal, surface coating, or door glass. Warranty is void if the product has been damaged by carelessness, overload, or incorrect installation. For support, contact the reseller or email [email protected] or [email protected].

Common problems

Furnace case glows red

This indicates overheating. Immediately close the ash tray and furnace door to stop the combustion process.

Stones crumbling

Large temperature fluctuations over time cause stones to lose properties. Replace crumbled stones with new ones at least once a year.

Inadequate draught

Ensure the chimney and flues are clean and that the connection tubes are smooth and properly sealed.

Before use

  • Wash sauna stones before laying them in the stove.
  • Verify that the chimney and flues are clean and in good condition.
  • Ensure all safety distances from combustible materials are met.
  • Confirm the floor in front of the furnace is made of non-combustible material or protected.
  • Hire a specialist for the chimney connection and stone installation.

Specs in practice

Heating power
13 kW or 17 kW depending on the model, determining the steam room size capacity.
Chimney class T600
The required temperature class for the chimney to handle the flue gas temperatures.
Safety distance
The minimum clearance required between the stove and combustible materials to prevent fire.

Images and diagrams

  • Table 1 provides specific dimensions (A, B, C, D, E, F, H) for safety distances and installation based on the specific model (13 kW or 17 kW).
  • The diagram illustrates the required clearance around the stove and the positioning of the furnace.

Model compatibility

  • Compatible with natural granite stones or special sauna stove stones.
  • Not compatible with salt water (do not splash salt water on the stove).
  • Only for use with wood logs.
