Quick guide from the manual

This manual provides installation and operating instructions for the Sentiotec electric sauna heater series (145, 160, 180, 190, 245, 260, 280, 290). It is intended for the sauna owner and the electrician responsible for installation.

Sauna Stones

The piling of stones significantly affects heater performance. Use only angular, split-face sauna stones (5-10 cm diameter) such as peridotite, olivine-dolerite, or olivine. Do not use ceramic or soft soapstones. Wash stones before use. Rearrange stones at least once a year to maintain optimal heating and prevent overheating.

Installation

The heater must be installed by a professional electrician. Ensure the heater output is suitable for the sauna room volume. Maintain the minimum safety distances specified in the manual. Only one heater may be installed in a sauna room.

Electrical Connections

The heater is semi-stationarily connected to a junction box on the sauna wall. The junction box must be splash-proof and located no higher than 500 mm from the floor. Use H07RN-F rubber cable or equivalent. PVC-insulated wire is forbidden due to thermal embrittlement.

Operation

Before switching on, ensure no objects are on or near the heater. Models 145-190 feature a built-in timer and thermostat. Models 145E-190E and 245E-290E require a separate control unit.

Troubleshooting

If the heater does not heat, check the fuses, connection cable, timer/thermostat settings, and the overheat protector. If the sauna heats slowly, check the stone piling, ventilation, and heater output.

Maintenance

Clean the sauna benches, walls, and floor at least every six months. Wipe dust from the heater with a damp cloth and remove lime stains with a 10% citric acid solution.

Practical help

Common problems

Heater does not heat

Check fuses, connection cable, timer setting, thermostat setting, and ensure the overheat protector has not tripped.

Sauna heats slowly

Check fuses, heating elements, thermostat setting, heater output, ventilation, and stone piling (too tight or wrong type).

Heater makes noise

Timer ticking is normal. Occasional bangs are likely stones cracking due to heat. Thermal expansion of parts can cause noise during warm-up.

Before use

  • Check heater output vs sauna volume
  • Check supply voltage
  • Verify safety distances
  • Ensure stones are 5-10cm and angular
  • Wash stones before use

Specs in practice

Heater Output
kW rating required based on sauna room volume.
Safety Distances
Minimum clearance from walls and benches to prevent fire.
Overheat Protector
Safety device that cuts power if the temperature becomes dangerously high.
