This document provides instructions for installing the PRL Motorsports Front Mount Intercooler on 2022-2023 Honda Civic 1.5T vehicles. The installation takes approximately 1 hour. Note: This item does not require an ECU re-calibration. This is a Race Only product intended for closed-course and open-course racing; it is not for use on public streets or highways.

Before Beginning Your Installation

Turn off the ignition and disconnect the negative battery terminal. Allow the vehicle to sit for at least 5 minutes to drain the charging system. Save any electronic memory settings before disconnecting the battery, as some radios may require an anti-theft code upon reconnection.

  1. Remove the 3 bumper clips above each headlight.
  2. Remove the 2 bumper clips to the inside of the headlight.
  3. Remove the lower Phillips head screw inside each wheel well arch.
  4. Remove the upper Phillips head screw inside each wheel well arch.
  5. On the underside, remove 10 bumper clips, 10mm shoulder bolts, and Phillips head screws.
  6. Unclip the top harness above the Honda badge.
  7. Unclip the fog light and sensor harnesses on each side.
  8. Pull the bumper away from the car and place it on a flat, covered surface.
  9. Remove the 2 10mm bolts from the front of the bumper plastic attached to the bumper beam.
  10. Remove the 4 bumper clips from the grille insert and the 2 clips from the underside of the grille insert.
  11. Use pliers to squeeze the tabs and release the ambient air sensor from the upper plastic shroud.

  1. Remove the 10mm bolts from the upper mounting brackets holding the factory intercooler.
  2. Remove the factory rubber grommet from the factory brackets to reuse on the PRL brackets.
  3. Remove the 2 10mm bolts holding the intercooler to the factory charge pipes.
  4. Install the larger provided O-ring in the groove on the driver's side outlet.
  5. Install the outlet end tank to the intercooler using the 2 10mm socket head bolts. Recommended Torque Spec: 18 ft/lbs.
  6. Install the 2 smaller provided O-rings in the inlet and outlet grooves.
  7. Seat the factory rubber grommet on the bottom post on each side.
  8. Mount the intercooler and tighten the PRL upper bracket using the factory 10mm bolt on each side.
  9. Align the factory charge pipes and connect them using the 2 factory 10mm bolts. Recommended Torque Spec: 18 ft/lbs.
  10. Flip the ambient air sensor to the other side of the tab to clear the end tank.
  11. Reinstall the bumper in reverse order of removal.

Road Testing

  1. Start the vehicle in neutral with the emergency brake engaged.
  2. Assess for any issues.
  3. Test drive the vehicle to ensure everything is in working order.

Required Maintenance

Visually inspect the intercooler during routine maintenance (oil changes, tire rotations). Check connections on all mounted parts periodically to ensure they have not come loose. Avoid driving through debris that can damage the fins or driving over objects that could puncture the unit.
