This document provides installation instructions for Rugged Ridge suspension seats (13406.XX and 13416.XX) compatible with 1976-2002 Jeep CJ and Wrangler vehicles. Note that 1997-2002 Jeep TJ Wranglers require a specific seat adaptor bracket.
Assembly
Before installing the seat in the vehicle, assemble the recliner components:

- Press the plastic covers onto the side of the metal seat recliner bracket on each side.
- Place the recliner knob over the recliner shaft and press firmly. Repeat for the other side.
- Verify that all covers and knobs are securely attached.
Seat installation

- Remove the old seat from the riser by removing 4 bolts. Save these bolts for reuse.
- Remove the sliders from the old seats by removing 4 bolts. Save these bolts. Note: To access the rear 2 bolts, push the slider arm down and move the slider forward.
- Place the sliders onto the new seats. Reuse the spacers from the old seat to align the slider.
- Fasten the slider to the new seat using the 4 bolts saved from the previous step.
- Place the slider back onto the seat riser and fasten with the 4 bolts saved from the initial removal.
Lumbar support adjustment
The seat features an adjustable lower lumbar support:

- Routing: Route the air hose and air pump under the seat to the front left or right corner.
- Mounting: Use the provided Velcro straps to mount the air pump on the left or right side of the seat, depending on the vehicle side (inboard placement is recommended).
- Inflation: Close the air valve screw and pump the air bladder. Do not over-inflate.
- Deflation: Unscrew the air valve to bleed out air until the desired comfort level is reached.
Safety and compatibility
The seat includes additional restraint slots designed for most racing harnesses. Some seat modification may be required. The owner is responsible for following the seat belt manufacturer's installation instructions if installing a seat belt other than an OE design and for the proper placement of shoulder harnesses.
