The Scs Sentinel 10Y is a standalone smoke detector designed for residential use. Key installation requirements include mounting on the ceiling, at least 50 cm away from walls and other obstacles. The device features a 10-year non-replaceable battery and must be tested regularly using the test button.

Device description

The unit consists of a smoke detection sensor, a test/activation button, and an LED indicator. It is designed to be mounted on the ceiling.

Installation

Follow these steps to install the detector:

• Choose a location on the ceiling, ensuring it is at least 50 cm away from walls, corners, and other objects.
• Avoid installing in kitchens, bathrooms, or areas with high humidity or drafts.
• Use the provided screws and wall plugs to mount the base plate.
• Attach the detector to the base plate by turning it until it locks.
• Press the test button to verify the device is functioning correctly.

Operation and testing

The device indicates its status through sound and LED flashes:

• Normal operation: LED flashes once every 40 seconds.
• Test mode: Press the test button. The device will emit 3 beeps and flash 3 times.
• Alarm: Emits 3 beeps and flashes 3 times.
• Low battery: Emits 1 beep and flashes once every 40 seconds. The battery is non-replaceable; the unit must be replaced.
• Fault: Emits 1 beep and flashes once every 40 seconds.

Maintenance

To ensure proper operation, keep the detector clean:

• Regularly remove dust from the device using a soft brush or vacuum cleaner.
• Do not attempt to repair the device yourself.
• If the device signals a fault, clean it first; if the fault persists, replace the unit.
