Table of contents
Product Overview
The Ascent M4 is a cellular-based multi-tenant entry system designed for gates and doors. It features an integrated camera for photo capture and supports Wiegand devices such as card readers. Please note that an uninterrupted cellular connection cannot be guaranteed, and an emergency egress or primary entry mechanism should always be installed alongside this unit.
Safety and Warnings
Automatic gates can cause serious injury or death. Always ensure the gate path is clear before operation. Reversing or other safety devices must be used. The unit will not function until the activation process is complete. Do not exceed 24 VAC/DC when using a third-party power source, as this can damage the unit.
Installation and Setup

- Mounting: Mount the unit on a gooseneck pedestal using the four included carriage bolts. If using alternate mounting, a 4G LTE Antenna Extension Kit (Model 16-ANTX-1) is required to prevent signal loss.
- Wiring: Feed wires through the back of the unit. Connect power and relay terminals according to the provided diagrams. Ensure correct polarity when using a third-party power source.
- Status Check: The status terminals are designed for low voltage (3 V or less). Exceeding this voltage can damage the unit. Use dry contacts for gate status monitoring.
- Wiegand Devices: Always disconnect power to the unit before connecting Wiegand devices like card readers.
Operation and Maintenance
The unit is managed via the Summit Control platform. Adding or deleting access codes must be performed through the software, not the physical keypad. For testing, a temporary code 2012 can be used to confirm the gate opens. Keep the unit enclosure sealed and ensure all openings are protected to prevent damage.
