Quick guide from the manual
The TC Electronic NETHER OCTAVER is an all-analog octave pedal designed to add warm, deep bottom end to your guitar signal. This guide provides essential information for connecting the device, adjusting the octave effects, and performing battery maintenance.
Controls
- Input/Output jacks: Connect your guitar to the INPUT jack and your amplifier to the OUTPUT jack using 1/4 inch cables.
- 9 V DC: Connect an external 9 V power supply (not included).
- Footswitch: Toggles the effect on and off. The LED indicates when the effect is engaged. When disengaged, the pedal operates in true bypass.
- Octave 2: Adjusts the volume of the signal two octaves below the input.
- Octave 1: Adjusts the volume of the signal one octave below the input.
- Dry: Adjusts the volume of the original input signal.
Battery Replacement
The pedal supports internal battery operation. To replace the battery, unscrew the back plate of the pedal, disconnect the old battery from the internal connector, and install a new 9 V battery. Ensure the battery is securely connected before reattaching the back plate.

Practical help
Common problems
Check that the 9 V power supply is connected and providing power, or replace the internal 9 V battery. Ensure all 1/4 inch cables are securely connected to the INPUT and OUTPUT jacks.
Verify that the Footswitch LED is lit. If not, check the power source. Ensure the Octave 1 and Octave 2 knobs are turned up from the minimum position.
Before use
- Ensure you have 1/4 inch instrument cables for input and output.
- Verify you have a 9 V power supply (center negative) or a fresh 9 V battery.
- Check that your amplifier is powered on and volume is set appropriately.
- Ensure the pedal is placed in the signal chain before the amplifier.
Specs in practice
- Center Negative
- The polarity requirement for the 9 V DC power supply; the center pin of the barrel connector must be negative.
- Impedance (500 kΩ / 100 kΩ)
- Input and output electrical resistance values optimized for standard guitar signal levels.
Model compatibility
- Requires standard 9 V DC power supply with center negative polarity.
- Compatible with standard 1/4 inch TS instrument cables.
