This manual provides essential information for the safe operation and maintenance of the Toro Workman MDX-D Utility Vehicle (Model 07236TC). Before operating, ensure you are familiar with all controls and safety decals. Key setup procedures include installing the steering wheel, connecting the battery, and checking fluid levels. Daily maintenance is critical for safety and performance, including checking tire pressure (55-103 kPa), engine oil, brake fluid, and transaxle fluid levels.
Safety
Always follow safety instructions to avoid serious injury or death. Pay attention to the safety-alert symbol (Danger, Warning, Caution). Key safety points include:
- Keep bystanders and children out of the operating area.
- Do not carry passengers in the cargo bed.
- Operate the machine on level surfaces; avoid steep slopes.
- Shut off the engine, remove the key, and wait for all movement to stop before servicing or leaving the operator's position.
- Do not operate the machine while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Use caution when hauling loads; do not exceed the gross vehicle weight (GVW).
Setup
Before initial use, perform the following setup procedures:

- Steering Wheel: Install the steering wheel onto the shaft, secure with the locknut, and tighten to 27-34 N·m.
- Battery: Connect the positive (red) cable first, then the negative (black) cable.
- Fluid Levels: Check engine oil, brake fluid, and transaxle fluid levels.
- Brakes: Burnish the brakes by bringing the machine to full speed and stopping rapidly 10 times (waiting 1 minute between stops).
Controls
Become familiar with the control panel, which includes the horn button, hour meter, light switch, battery light, engine oil-pressure light, engine coolant-temperature light, glow-plug indicator, key switch, and power point. The gear-shift selector has three positions: Forward, Reverse, and Neutral.

Operation
To start the engine, sit in the operator's seat, insert the key, press the brake, and rotate the key to the ON position. Wait for the glow-plug indicator to turn off, then rotate to START. Once running, turn the key to RUN. To stop, remove your foot from the accelerator and apply the brake pedal. Always engage the parking brake when shutting off the engine.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance is required to keep the machine in good working order. Key intervals include:

- After first 8 hours: Check drive belt condition.
- After first 50 hours: Change engine oil and filter; adjust engine-valve clearance.
- Before each use/daily: Check tire pressure, engine oil level, gear-shift operation, primary drive clutch, radiator-coolant level, and brake-fluid level.
- Every 100 hours: Replace air filter, check steering/suspension, check transaxle-fluid level, clean engine-cooling areas.
- Every 800 hours: Replace fuel filter, change transaxle fluid.
Specifications
- Engine Oil: API service CH-4, CI-4, CJ-4 or higher; 1.4L capacity.
- Transaxle Fluid: SAE 10W30 (API service SJ or higher); 1.4L capacity.
- Brake Fluid: DOT 3.
- Tire Pressure: 55 to 103 kPa (8 to 22 psi).
- Max Speed: 26 km/h (16 mph).
Practical help
Common problems
Shut off the engine, allow to cool, check coolant level, check belts to fan and water pump, and clean cooling areas.
Adjust or repair the brakes if the pedal travels to within 25 mm (1 inch) of the floor board.
Clean debris from the clutch using water and compressed air; use fast-drying contact cleaner for remaining debris.
