Quick guide from the manual

This document provides essential operating and safety instructions for the Vevor Long Ram Jack (Models 3T, 4T, 8T, 12T). This device is designed exclusively for use with cranes to lift heavy loads. Do not overload the jack beyond its rated capacity, as this may cause unit failure or damage.

Safety Warnings

  • Always support the load immediately with appropriately rated jack stands. Never work under or around a load that is not properly supported.
  • Do not drop the load suddenly, as shock loads can damage the hydraulic system.
  • Ensure all mounting hardware is tight before use.
  • Use only high-quality hydraulic fluid. Do not use brake fluid or other improper fluids.
  • The jack must be fully retracted before adding oil.

To Raise

  1. Estimate the load weight and ensure it does not exceed the jack's rated capacity.
  2. Place the jack on hard, level ground. Use a hard plank if necessary to prevent instability.
  3. Insert the notched end of the handle into the release valve and turn clockwise until closed. Do not overtighten.
  4. Insert the handle into the socket and pump up and down to raise the ram to the desired height.
  5. Immediately transfer the load to appropriate support devices like jack stands.

To Lower

  1. Remove the handle from the socket.
  2. Using the slotted end of the handle, slowly turn the release valve counter-clockwise.
  3. Lower the load slowly. Do not turn the valve quickly, as rapid lowering can cause dangerous dynamic shock loads.

Maintenance

Adding Oil

  1. With the saddle fully lowered and pump piston depressed, set the jack in an upright, level position.
  2. Remove the oil filler plug and fill until the oil is level with the hole.
  3. Reinstall the plug.

Changing Oil

For optimal performance, replace the hydraulic fluid at least once per year. Drain the old fluid by laying the jack on its side, then refill with high-quality jack oil.

Lubrication

Periodically apply light lubricating oil to pivot points, axles, and hinges. Check the pump piston and ram for rust or corrosion; clean if necessary using an oily cloth. Never use sandpaper or abrasive materials on these surfaces.

Troubleshooting

  • Jack will not load: Ensure the release valve is tightly closed, remedy any overload condition, and ensure adequate air supply.
  • Jack bleeds off after lift: Ensure the release valve is tightly closed; if the issue persists, contact the seller.
  • Jack will not lower: The reservoir may be overfilled; drain to the proper level. Check for binding linkages.
  • Poor lift performance: Check fluid levels and ensure no air is trapped in the system.

Practical help

Common problems

Jack will not load

Ensure release valve is tightly closed, remedy overload condition, and check air supply.

Jack bleeds off after lift

Ensure release valve is tightly closed; if it continues, contact the seller.

Jack will not lower

Drain excess fluid from the reservoir and check for binding linkages.

Poor lift performance

Check fluid level and bleed trapped air from the system.

Before use

  • Estimate load weight to ensure it is within the jack's rated capacity.
  • Ensure the jack is placed on hard, level ground (use a plank if necessary).
  • Check that all mounting hardware is tight.
  • Verify the release valve is closed by turning it clockwise.
  • Ensure the jack is not in an environment with corrosive air.

Specs in practice

Lift Weight Capacity
The maximum load the jack is rated to lift (3T, 4T, 8T, or 12T depending on model).
Lifting Travel
The maximum distance the ram can extend (500mm for all models).

Images and diagrams

  • The release valve is located at the base of the jack and is operated by the notched end of the handle.
  • The oil filler plug is located on the side of the reservoir cylinder.
  • The plunger pump installation diagram shows how to secure the hydraulic pump to the crane frame using the provided pins.

Model compatibility

  • Designed for use with cranes only.
  • Requires appropriately rated jack stands for load support.
  • Use machine oil (G8443-84)N15 for temperatures 27°F to 113°F.
  • Use synthetic spindle oil (GB442-64) for temperatures 4°F to 27°F.
