Quick guide from the manual

This guide provides essential settings for the Weber Family Q 03200N+ barbecue. It covers pre-heating, burner operation, and specific cooking methods (direct vs. indirect) to help you achieve the best results for various cooking styles.

Operating instructions

Lighting the burners: The + burner can only be lit once the Q burner is already lit; it cannot be lit independently. Always pre-heat your barbecue with the lid down before use.

Lid position: Weber barbecues are designed for lid-down cooking to impart smoky flavour and ensure even heat. While the Weber Q is powerful enough for lid-up cooking (direct and hotplate methods), lid-down cooking is recommended for roasting, baking, and low-and-slow methods.

Factors affecting performance: Settings provided are based on an outdoor, sheltered environment at approximately 20°C. You may need to adjust pre-heat or cooking times based on your specific conditions and personal taste.

Direct cooking methods

The direct method is used for grilling or searing food directly above the heat source. This includes:

  • Sear: Very high heat (290°C+) for 15 minutes pre-heat.
  • Grill: High to medium heat (180°C - 290°C) for 15 minutes pre-heat.
  • Fry or Saute: Using a casserole dish or frying pan (170°C - 250°C) for 10 minutes pre-heat.
  • Griddle: Using a full or half hotplate (170°C - 250°C) for 15 minutes pre-heat.

Indirect cooking methods

The indirect method is used for roasting, baking, and low-and-slow cooking. Food is not placed directly over the heat source. You must use a convection tray and trivet to elevate the food and allow hot air circulation.

  • Roast: High to medium heat (190°C - 260°C) for 15 minutes pre-heat.
  • Pizza: Medium heat (190°C - 230°C) for 20 minutes pre-heat.
  • Rotisserie: Medium heat (190°C - 230°C) for 15 minutes pre-heat.
  • Bake: Medium-low heat (170°C - 190°C) for 15 minutes pre-heat.
  • Simmer/Braise: Medium heat (190°C - 230°C) for 15 minutes pre-heat.
  • Low n Slow: Very low heat (95°C - 130°C) for 15 minutes pre-heat.

  • Check if the cooking method requires direct or indirect heat.
  • Verify if specific accessories (convection tray, trivet, hotplate) are needed for your chosen method.
