This manual covers the operation and safety of the Bosch GSR 18V-45 and GSB 18V-45 cordless drill/drivers. The GSB model includes an additional impact drilling mode for masonry and stone.
Device description
The tools feature a keyless chuck, torque pre-selection ring, gear selector, and LED worklight. The GSB model also includes an operating mode pre-selection ring.
Battery and charging
Use only recommended Bosch 18V Li-ion batteries and chargers. The battery is partially charged upon delivery; charge it fully before first use. The battery charge indicator shows the remaining capacity via green LEDs.
Operation
Inserting the battery: Push the charged battery into the base of the tool until it locks securely. Rotational direction: Use the switch to select clockwise (drilling/screwdriving) or counter-clockwise (loosening) rotation. Operating modes: Use the pre-selection rings to choose between drilling, screwdriving, and impact drilling (GSB model only). Speed control: Adjust speed by varying the pressure on the on/off switch.
Maintenance and safety
Always remove the battery before performing maintenance or changing tools. Keep the tool and ventilation slots clean for safe operation. Avoid dust accumulation at the workplace, as it can ignite easily.

Common problems
Tool does not start or stops during operation
Check battery charge level. If low, charge or replace the battery. If the tool stops after downtime, the device protection may be active; allow it to cool.
Battery charge indicator LEDs do not light up
The battery may be defective and needs to be replaced.
Before use
- Ensure the battery is fully charged.
- Check that the correct tool bit is inserted and securely tightened in the chuck.
- Set the correct rotational direction.
- Select the appropriate gear (1 for high torque/screwdriving, 2 for high speed/drilling).
- Ensure the operating mode is set correctly for the task.
