This manual provides essential instructions for the Bosch EasyDrill 18V-40 and EasyImpact 18V-40 cordless drill/drivers. The EasyImpact model includes an additional impact drilling mode for masonry. Always ensure the battery is removed before performing any maintenance or tool changes to prevent accidental activation.
Device Description
The tools feature a keyless chuck, torque presetting ring, and gear selector. The EasyImpact model also includes an operating mode presetting ring for selecting between screwdriving, drilling, and impact drilling.

Assembly
To change a tool, ensure the on/off switch is not pressed to lock the spindle. Open the keyless chuck by turning it, insert the tool, and tighten the sleeve firmly by hand until it clicks, which indicates automatic locking.

Operation
The rotational direction switch changes the direction of rotation (right for drilling/screwdriving, left for loosening). Speed is controlled by the pressure applied to the on/off switch. The torque presetting ring allows for precise screwdriving, while the gear selector (I or II) adjusts the speed range for different drilling diameters.
Battery Maintenance
Use only recommended Bosch chargers. Charge the battery fully before first use. The battery charge indicator on the battery shows the remaining capacity via LED lights. Store batteries within the -20 °C to 50 °C temperature range.
Safety
Always wear ear protection when impact drilling. Hold the tool by insulated gripping surfaces when working where the tool might contact hidden wiring. Avoid dust accumulation and ensure good ventilation. In case of tool blockage, switch off immediately to avoid high reaction torque.
Technical Data
Both models operate at 18V. The EasyDrill 18V-40 offers a max torque of 40 Nm, while the EasyImpact 18V-40 also features an impact rate of up to 24,450 min-1.

Common problems
The tool may be overloaded or the battery temperature is too high. The electronic protection system will switch it off until it returns to the optimal temperature range.
Do not operate at speeds higher than the bit's maximum rating. Start drilling at a low speed with the bit in contact with the workpiece.
Ensure you are using a compatible charger (AL 18... series). Some older chargers are not compatible with PBA batteries.
Before use
- Fully charge the battery before first use.
- Ensure the correct gear (I or II) is selected for the task.
- Set the torque ring to the appropriate level for the screw size.
- For EasyImpact, set the mode selector to the correct icon (screwdriving, drilling, or impact drilling).
- Ensure the tool is switched off before placing it on a screw or nut.
Specs in practice
- Gear I (0-430 min-1)
- Low speed, high torque; ideal for large drilling diameters or heavy-duty screwdriving.
- Gear II (0-1630 min-1)
- High speed, low torque; ideal for small to medium drilling diameters.
- Max. Torque (32/23 Nm or 38/20 Nm)
- Maximum force for hard/soft screwdriving applications.
