Quick guide from the manual

This document provides essential operating instructions for the Canon 15x50 IS ALL WEATHER and 18x50 IS ALL WEATHER binoculars. These high-magnification binoculars feature an optical Image Stabilizer to ensure steady viewing. They are water-resistant and suitable for use in rain, though not for underwater use.

Before you start

  1. Attach the strap: Ensure it is securely fastened.
  2. Load the batteries: Use a coin to turn the battery chamber cover 90 degrees. Insert two AA batteries according to the polarity markings.
  3. Check the Image Stabilizer: Press the Image Stabilizer button and verify that the indicator lamp lights up.

Operation

Adjusting the width: Look through the binoculars and adjust the width until the left and right images converge into a single circle. If wearing eyeglasses, fold back the eyecups.

Adjusting the diopter: Look through the left eyepiece and adjust the focusing knob until the image is sharp. Then, look through the right eyepiece and turn the dioptric correction ring until the image is sharp.

Focusing: Turn the central focusing knob while looking through the eyepiece until the object appears sharp.

Using the Image Stabilizer: You can hold down the Image Stabilizer button for continuous operation, or press it once to activate it for five minutes. The lamp remains lit while the stabilizer is active.

Maintenance and safety

  • Cleaning: Use a blower brush to remove dust, then wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use organic solvents.
  • Storage: Store in a well-ventilated, dry place. Remove batteries if the binoculars will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
  • Temperature changes: To prevent condensation when moving between cold and warm environments, place the binoculars in an airtight plastic bag until they adjust to the new temperature.
  • Safety: Never look directly at the sun or bright lights through the binoculars.

Common problems

Image is not clear

Clean the lens, adjust the width between your eyes, set the diopter, or adjust the focus.

Image Stabilizer does not operate

Check if batteries are loaded and have sufficient power. Replace both batteries if the lamp does not light or if the stabilizer fails to engage.

Strange noise during stabilization

This may occur if batteries are exhausted; replace them with new ones.

Air bubbles in the lens

This can happen due to pressure changes (e.g., high altitude). They usually disappear within a week.

Before use

  • Attach the neck strap securely.
  • Insert two fresh AA batteries (alkaline or lithium recommended).
  • Fold back eyecups if wearing glasses.
  • Adjust the binocular width for your eyes.
  • Set the diopter for the right eyepiece.
  • Test the Image Stabilizer button.
