Quick Start Guide

This generator is designed to run on gasoline, propane (LPG), or natural gas (NG). Always operate the generator outdoors in a well-ventilated area, far away from windows, doors, and vents to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning. The unit features a CO Shield system that automatically shuts off the engine if it detects dangerous levels of carbon monoxide.

Safety and CO Shield

The CO Shield system monitors for carbon monoxide accumulation. If the generator shuts down and a red LED blinks on the panel, move the generator to an open, outdoor area and ensure exhaust is pointed away from people and buildings. Never tamper with the CO Shield module, as this will void the warranty and prevent the generator from starting.

Assembly

Wheel installation
Wheel installation
  • Wheels: Install the wheels using the provided roll pins and r-clips.
  • Support Leg: Attach the support leg to the frame using the included flange bolts and lock nuts.
  • Battery: Connect the two halves of the battery connector to power the electric start system.
  • Oil: Add 10W-30 oil (43.9 fl. oz. / 1300 ml) before the first use. Check the level using the dipstick.

Fuel Setup

LPG connection
LPG connection
  • Gasoline: Use clean, fresh, regular unleaded gasoline (minimum 87 octane, max 10% ethanol). Do not overfill.
  • Propane (LPG): Connect the LPG hose to the generator and the cylinder. Hand-tighten the connection and check for leaks using a soap and water solution.
  • Natural Gas (NG): Connect the NG hose using the provided adapter. Use pipe sealant or Teflon tape on the adapter fitting, but not on the female flare end of the hose. Check for leaks before starting.

Operation

Starting the Engine:

Choke lever positions
Choke lever positions
  1. Ensure the generator is on a flat, level surface and all circuit breakers are reset.
  2. Disconnect all electrical loads.
  3. Turn the fuel select dial to the desired fuel position (Gasoline, Propane, or Natural Gas).
  4. Move the choke lever to the CHOKE position.
  5. For electric start, press and hold the ignition switch to START for 2-3 seconds. For manual start, pull the recoil cord.
  6. Once the engine starts, gradually move the choke lever to the RUN position.

Stopping the Engine:

  1. Turn off and unplug all electrical loads.
  2. Turn the fuel select dial to the ENGINE STOP position.
  3. If using LPG or NG, close the supply valve on the tank or line.

Maintenance

Spark plug gap
Spark plug gap
  • Oil Change: Change the oil after the first 5 hours (break-in period) and then according to the maintenance schedule.
  • Air Filter: Clean the foam element with liquid detergent and water, dry it, and saturate it with clean engine oil.
  • Spark Plug: Inspect and clean the electrode. Ensure the gap is 0.028-0.031 in. (0.7-0.8 mm).
  • Spark Arrestor: Clean carbon deposits from the screen with a wire brush.

Troubleshooting

If the generator fails to start, check for no fuel, low oil level, a loose spark plug wire, or an incorrect fuel select dial position. If the generator shuts down during operation, check for CO accumulation (red LED) or a system fault (yellow LED). Ensure the generator is not overloaded and that the air filter and spark arrestor are clean.

Practical help

Common problems

Generator will not start

Check fuel level, ensure oil is at the proper level, check spark plug wire, and ensure the fuel select dial is set to the correct fuel.

Generator shuts down during operation

Check for CO accumulation (move to open area), check for low oil, or check for system fault (yellow LED).

Generator running but no AC output

Check circuit breakers, ensure cords are connected properly, or reset GFCI receptacles.

Before use

  • Check engine oil level.
  • Check fuel level (Gasoline, LPG, or NG).
  • Ensure generator is on a flat, level surface.
  • Check for fuel leaks (especially for LPG/NG connections).
  • Ensure all circuit breakers are reset.
  • Clear area of obstructions within 5 feet.
