Quick Start Guide

To start your generator, follow these steps:

  1. Ensure the generator is on a flat, level surface outdoors.
  2. Check the oil level (10W-30 recommended) and fuel level (87 octane, max 10% ethanol).
  3. Turn the fuel valve to the ON position.
  4. Press the engine switch to the ON position.
  5. Move the choke lever to the CHOKE position.
  6. Pull the recoil cord to start the engine.
  7. Once started, move the choke lever to the RUN position over 2-5 seconds.
  8. Plug in your electrical devices.

Safety and CO Shield

DANGER: Generator exhaust contains carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless, poisonous gas. NEVER operate the generator indoors, in garages, or near windows/doors. The CO Shield system monitors for carbon monoxide accumulation and will automatically shut off the engine if unsafe levels are detected. If the generator shuts off and the red LED blinks, move the generator to an open, outdoor area and seek fresh air.

Assembly

The unit ships without oil. You must add oil before the first use. Use 11.8 fl. oz. (350 ml) of 10W-30 oil. Do not overfill. Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with a minimum octane rating of 87 and no more than 10% ethanol.

Operation

Always allow the engine to stabilize for a few minutes before connecting electrical loads. Connect the largest load first. Do not exceed the generator's running capacity of 1200W. To stop the engine, turn off and unplug all loads, press the engine switch to OFF, and turn the fuel valve to OFF.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance is essential for performance and longevity:

Spark plug gap adjustment
Spark plug gap adjustment
  • Every 8 hours/before use: Check oil level, clean around air intake and muffler.
  • First 5 hours: Change oil (break-in period).
  • Every 50 hours/annually: Clean air filter, change oil if operating under heavy load.
  • Every 100 hours/annually: Change oil, clean/adjust spark plug, clean spark arrestor, clean fuel valve filter.

Storage

For short-term storage (up to 30 days), run the engine until it stops from fuel starvation. For long-term storage, drain the fuel tank and carburetor completely, and add a small amount of oil to the cylinder to prevent corrosion.

Troubleshooting

If the engine fails to start, check for fuel, ensure the spark plug wire is connected, check the oil level, and ensure the fuel valve is open. If the generator shuts down during operation, check for fuel, low oil, or CO Shield activation due to poor ventilation.

Specifications

The generator provides 1200 running watts and 1500 starting watts. It features a 79cc 4-stroke OHV engine, 1.46 gal fuel tank, and manual start. It is designed for operation in temperatures from 23°F to 104°F.

Practical help

Common problems

Engine will not start

Check fuel level, oil level, spark plug connection, fuel valve position, and engine switch. Ensure CO Shield module is not tampered with.

Engine runs roughly

Check choke lever position, clean or replace air filter, clean fuel valve, or clean spark arrestor.

Engine shuts down during operation

Check fuel level, oil level, or CO Shield activation. If CO Shield triggered, move to a well-ventilated area and point exhaust away from buildings.

Repeated circuit breaker tripping

Generator is overloaded. Review connected loads and reduce total wattage. Check for damaged power cords.

Before use

  • Check engine oil level (10W-30).
  • Check gasoline level (87 octane, max 10% ethanol).
  • Ensure generator is on a flat, level surface.
  • Ensure generator is outdoors, away from windows, doors, and vents.
  • Disconnect all electrical loads before starting.
  • Ensure fuel valve is in the ON position.
