This document provides the essential steps to set up and integrate the Cisco Business 141AC Mesh Extender into an existing Cisco Business Wireless Network. Before starting, ensure you have an active internet connection, a configured CBW Master AP (140AC/145AC/240AC) with Mesh enabled, and a router acting as a DHCP server.

First steps and preparation

Connect the provided power adapter to the mesh extender and plug it into a power source. Press the power button to initiate the boot process. The LED will cycle through red, amber, and green colors. Once the device is powered, you can proceed with configuration using either the Cisco Business app or a web browser.

Configuration via Cisco Business app

Download the Cisco Business app to simplify setup. Open the app, navigate to Monitor my network, select the Discovered Master, log in, and choose Add a device to follow the guided setup.

Configuration via Web UI

  1. Connect to the SSID of the Master AP.
  2. Launch a web browser and navigate to https://ciscobusiness.cisco.
  3. Log in with the credentials created during the Master AP configuration.
  4. Navigate to Wireless Settings > WLAN Users > Local MAC Addresses.
  5. Click Add MAC Address and enter the MAC address of the mesh extender (found via the QR code on the device).
  6. Set the Type to Whitelist and save the configuration by clicking the red disk icon.
  7. Verify the device status under Wireless Settings > Access Points.

Troubleshooting and status

The mesh extender LED will cycle through multiple states while uploading firmware and joining the Master AP. This process may take ten minutes or more. A solid or blinking green LED indicates a successful connection. If the mesh extender does not appear, ensure that Mesh support is enabled on the Master AP under Wireless Settings > Mesh.

Common problems

Mesh extender not joining the network

Ensure Mesh support is enabled on the Master AP (Wireless Settings > Mesh) and that the MAC address has been added to the Whitelist.

LED not turning solid green

The device may still be uploading firmware or joining the network. Wait at least ten minutes.
