This document provides the essential steps to set up and configure the Cisco Business 142AC Mesh Extender to expand your existing Cisco Business Wireless Network. Ensure you have an active internet connection, a configured CBW Master AP (140AC/145AC/240AC) with Mesh enabled, and a router acting as a DHCP server before beginning.
Preparing Your Product
To prepare the device for network integration:

- If using the Cisco Business app, connect to the Master AP's SSID and follow the in-app instructions.
- If not using the app, scan the QR code on the back of the device to obtain its MAC address.
- Plug the mesh extender into a power outlet. The LED will cycle through red, amber, and green during the initial boot process.
Get Configured
You can configure the mesh extender using either the Cisco Business app or the Web UI:
Via Cisco Business App
Open the app, select 'Monitor My Network', log into the Master AP, and select 'Add a device'. Follow the prompts to complete the setup.
Via Wireless (Web UI)
- Launch a web browser and navigate to https://ciscobusiness.cisco.
- Log into the Master AP using your credentials.
- Ensure Mesh support is enabled under Wireless Settings > Mesh.
- Navigate to Wireless Settings > WLAN Users > Local MAC Addresses.
- Click 'Add MAC Address' and enter the MAC address of the mesh extender.
- Set the Type to 'Whitelist'.
- Save the configuration by clicking the red disk icon in the UI header.
- The device will upload firmware and join the network; this may take ten minutes or more. A solid or blinking green LED indicates a successful connection.

Common problems
Ensure Mesh support is enabled on the Master AP (Wireless Settings > Mesh). Verify the MAC address was added correctly to the Whitelist.
The device may still be uploading firmware. Wait at least ten minutes after adding the MAC address to the network.
