The Conair Number Cut 20-Piece Haircut Kit is designed for home use. Before starting, ensure the device is clean, blades are oiled, and the person is seated at eye level. Always inspect the cord and plug for damage before use. Keep the device away from water and never operate it if it has been dropped in water.
Operating instructions
This appliance is intended for use with 120V AC (60Hz) power only. It features a polarized plug for safety; if it does not fit, reverse it or contact an electrician.

Using the taper lever
The taper lever, located at your thumb, allows you to adjust the closeness of the cut without changing the comb attachment:
- Closest cut/shortest hair: Push the lever up as far as it will go.
- Longer cut: Push the lever down.
- Maintenance: To remove hair buildup without removing blades, keep the clipper on and quickly push the lever back and forth from close to longer a few times.
Haircutting techniques
- Preparation: Comb hair to remove tangles. Start with the longest attachment comb to get used to the length.
- Medium to long cuts: Cut from the back of the neck to the crown. Hold the comb attachment flat against the head and move the clipper slowly upward.
- Outlining: No attachments are required. Position the clipper between sideburns and the ear, using the corner edge of the blade against the hairline.
Maintenance

Blade alignment
If blades were removed for cleaning or were knocked out of alignment, they must be realigned:
- Unplug the clipper and slightly loosen the screws.
- Position the extreme left-hand tooth of the top blade so it covers or appears on the left of the first small tooth on the bottom blade.
- Ensure the big tooth on the bottom blade touches the extreme right-hand tooth of the top blade.
- The top blade teeth should be 1/32 to 1/16 inch back from the bottom blade.
Oiling
Oil the blades before use and after every three or four haircuts. Place a few drops of the provided Conair oil on the teeth of the blades. Turn the clipper on for a minute, then turn it off.
Power screw adjustment
If the clipper is noisy, the power screw may need adjustment:
- With the power on, turn the power screw counterclockwise until the arm strikes the coil (clacking noise).
- Turn the screw clockwise until the noise stops, then turn about 45 degrees more for maximum power.
Storage
When not in use, disconnect the clipper, allow it to cool, and store it in a safe, dry location out of reach of children. Never wrap the cord around the clipper.
