This hair dryer is equipped with a dual voltage feature for worldwide travel and an ALCI safety plug to prevent electric shock. Always test the ALCI safety feature before every use. Ensure the voltage selector is set correctly for your destination (125V or 250V) before plugging the device into an outlet.

Safety Instructions

Danger: Keep away from water. Any hair dryer is electrically live even when the switch is off. To reduce the risk of death or injury by electric shock:

• Always unplug immediately after use.
• Do not use while bathing.
• Do not place or store where it can fall into a tub or sink.
• If the appliance falls into water, unplug it immediately. Do not reach into the water.

Warning: Never leave the appliance unattended when plugged in. Do not use near children or individuals with certain disabilities. Keep the cord away from heated surfaces and do not wrap it around the dryer.

Getting to Know Your Dryer

The Conair 1600 Watt Compact Styler features:

Operating Instructions

Dual Voltage Operation:

• For 110–125 Volt Operation: Ensure the dual voltage switch is set to 125. Use a small coin or paperclip to turn the switch if necessary.
• For 220–250 Volt Operation: Set the speed switch to Low and the heat switch to Hot. Turn the dual voltage switch to the 250 position. The dryer will operate at high speed with high heat. Do not change settings while operating. A plug adapter may be required in some countries.

ALCI Safety Feature

The ALCI (Appliance Leakage Circuit Interrupter) is a safety feature that renders the dryer inoperable under abnormal conditions, such as immersion in water.

To test the ALCI:

1. Plug in the appliance and press the test button on the plug.
2. The appliance should stop working, and the reset button should pop out.
3. To reset, unplug the unit, push the reset button in, and reinsert the plug into the outlet.

If the ALCI is not functioning properly, return the hair dryer to an authorized Conair Service Center.

Styling Guide

• Drying Basics: Shampoo and condition hair, then towel dry. Direct hot air through a section of hair while moving the dryer steadily. Keep air intake vents unobstructed.
• Body & Volume: Turn head upside down while drying and position airflow toward the roots.
• Straightening: Use a large round brush to hold hair taut in sections while drying.
• Waves: Grasp hair at the roots and scrunch between fingertips while drying.

Maintenance and Storage

The dryer is virtually maintenance-free. No lubrication is needed. To clean, unplug the cord and remove dust and lint from air intake openings using a small brush or vacuum attachment. Wipe the outer surface with a cloth only.

Storage: When not in use, disconnect, allow to cool, and store in a safe, dry location out of reach of children. Do not wrap the cord tightly around the dryer; allow it to hang or lie loose at the point of entry into the dryer.
