This manual covers both SPD (clipless) and Flat pedals. Before riding, ensure you are familiar with the engagement and release mechanisms. Always check that fastening sections are secure and there is no abnormal play or noise before every ride. If you are unsure about installation or adjustment, contact a bicycle dealer.
Pedal Installation
Pedals are side-specific. The right pedal (drive side) has a standard right-hand thread, while the left pedal (non-drive side) has a left-hand thread. Often, the left pedal axle head is marked with specific grooves or an 'L' mark. Ensure they are tightened to the recommended torque of 30-40 Nm.

SPD Pedals: Spring Tension and Cleat Usage
Spring Tension Adjustment: Use the adjustment screw located at the rear of the binding. Turning the screw clockwise increases tension; turning it counter-clockwise decreases it. Each click represents one step of adjustment.
Engaging and Releasing: To engage, press the cleats into the pedals with a forward and downward motion. To release, twist your heel outward. Practice this motion while stationary, holding onto a wall or with one foot on the ground, until the movement becomes natural.
Flat Pedals: Pin Adjustment
If the gripping force between your shoes and the pedals is insufficient, you can increase it by removing the spacers or switching to longer pins. The pins use an M4 thread standard. Ensure you wear appropriate protective gear, as long pins can cause injury upon contact with skin.

Maintenance and Safety
- Regular Inspections: Check for secure fastening, abnormal noises, and bearing clearance before every ride.
- Cleat Wear: Periodically check cleats for wear. Replace them if they are difficult to release or show significant signs of degradation.
- Reflectors: If riding on public roads, ensure reflectors are installed and clean.
- Safety Warning: Do not disassemble or alter the product. Use only CUBE/RFR cleats with SPD pedals.
