Danfoss EV220A Solenoid Valve Instruction Manual

Quick guide for Danfoss EV220A solenoid valves, covering technical specifications, media compatibility, pressure ranges, and spare parts identification.

Table of contents

Quick guide from the manual

This document provides essential technical data for the Danfoss EV220A series solenoid valves (NC/NO). It is intended for technical personnel responsible for selecting, installing, and maintaining these valves. Key information includes media compatibility, temperature limits, and pressure differential (Δp) requirements based on the valve size and coil type.

Media compatibility and temperature

The valve performance depends on the seal material and the media used. Ensure your application falls within these parameters:

  • EPDM: Water, -30°C to +100°C.
  • NBR: Water, Oil, Air, -10°C to +90°C.
  • FKM: Oil, Air, 0°C to +100°C; Water, 0°C to +60°C.

Operating pressure (Δp)

The valve requires a minimum pressure differential to operate correctly. For valve sizes 6-10, the minimum Δp is 0.2 bar. For sizes 12-50, the minimum Δp is 0.3 bar. Maximum pressure ratings vary by coil type (AB, AM, AK) and valve size, ranging from 10 bar to 16 bar.

Spare parts

Spare parts kits are available for the NC version of the EV220A valves. When ordering, identify the correct code number based on the valve size (6-50) and the seal material (EPDM, NBR, or FKM) used in your specific unit.

Practical help

Common problems

Valve fails to open or close

Verify that the operating pressure differential (Δp) meets the minimum requirement (0.2 bar for sizes 6-10; 0.3 bar for sizes 12-50).

Seal degradation

Ensure the media temperature and type are compatible with the seal material (EPDM, NBR, or FKM) as specified in the temperature table.

Before use

  • Verify the valve type (NC or NO).
  • Check the seal material compatibility with the media.
  • Confirm the media temperature is within the specified range.
  • Ensure the system pressure differential meets the minimum Δp requirement.
  • Select the appropriate coil type (AB, AM, or AK) for the application.

  • The exploded view illustrates the assembly sequence for the NC version spare parts kit.

Model compatibility

  • EV220A (NC) valves support a wide range of coils (AB, AM, AK).
  • EV220A (NO) valves have specific coil compatibility limitations.
