Quick guide from the manual

The Microtubes X Ultra is a high-performance bass preamp pedal. To ensure optimal performance and avoid damage, always use a regulated 9V DC power supply with a center-negative plug. The unit requires a current draw of 200mA. Unregulated power supplies may cause noise issues or damage the device.

Controls

The pedal features several controls to shape your bass tone:

  • Low Comp: Controls the compression amount for the low band. It manages both threshold and makeup gain to maintain a constant level. This control also adjusts compression when the compressor is enabled for a clean signal in Darkglass Suite.
  • Low Level: Sets the output volume of the low-pass signal.
  • Low Pass Frequency: Controls the cut-off frequency to be mixed back to the high-pass side, ranging from 50Hz (sub-bass) to 500Hz (preserving clean mids).
  • High Level: Sets the output volume of the distorted high-pass signal.
  • High Drive: Sets the amount of distortion for the high-pass side.
  • High Pass Frequency: Controls the cut-off frequency to be distorted, ranging from 100Hz (thicker, fuzzier saturation) to 1kHz (ultra-sharp definition).
  • Master: Adjusts the overall volume of the unit (+-12 dB).

Equalizer

The pedal includes a graphic equalizer for further tone shaping:

  • Low shelf: +-12 dB @ 80 Hz.
  • Mid bands: 250 Hz, 500 Hz, 1.5 kHz, and 3 kHz (all +-12 dB).
  • High shelf: +-12 dB @ 5 kHz.
