Quick guide from the manual
The Darkglass MICROTUBES X7 is a professional bass preamp pedal designed to provide a wide spectrum of distortion textures. Important: This unit does not accept batteries. You must use a regulated 9V DC adapter with a center-negative plug. Using unregulated power supplies or higher voltages may damage the unit and void the warranty.
Controls
The pedal features a comprehensive set of controls to shape your bass tone:

- High Pass Frequency: Controls the cutoff frequency for the distorted signal, ranging from 100Hz (thicker, fuzzier saturation) to 1kHz (ultra-sharp definition).
- High Drive: Sets the amount of distortion for the high-pass side.
- High Level: Sets the output volume of the distorted high-pass signal.
- Low Pass Frequency: Controls the cutoff frequency to be mixed back to the high-pass side, ranging from 50Hz (sub-bass) to 500Hz (preserving clean mids).
- Low Comp: Sets the amount of compression for the low-pass signal.
- Low Level: Sets the output volume of the low-pass signal.
- Master: Sets the overall volume of the unit.
The pedal also includes a 4-band equalizer:
- Low shelf: +-12dB @ 80 Hz
- 500 Hz: +-12dB
- 1 kHz: +-12dB
- High shelf: +-12dB @ 5 kHz

Practical help
Common problems
Ensure you are using a regulated 9V DC power supply with a center-negative plug. The unit does not support battery power.
Verify that you are using a regulated power supply. Unregulated power supplies or incorrect voltages can cause noise and potential damage to the unit.
Before use
- Verify power supply is 9V DC, center-negative.
- Ensure power supply is regulated.
- Register your pedal at http://mypedal.darkglass.com.
- Locate the serial number on the back of the pedal for registration.
Specs in practice
- Input Impedance (1MΩ)
- Standard high impedance for instrument inputs to ensure signal clarity.
- Current Consumption (70mA)
- The minimum current your power supply must provide to operate the pedal correctly.
- High Pass Frequency
- Determines the frequency range that gets distorted; lower settings result in fuzzier saturation, higher settings result in sharper definition.
- Low Pass Frequency
- Determines the frequency range of the clean/compressed signal mixed back into the output.
Images and diagrams
- The top row of knobs controls compression and levels for high and low frequency bands.
- The center sliders control the 4-band EQ (Low shelf, 500Hz, 1kHz, High shelf).
- The two smaller knobs control the High Pass and Low Pass frequency cutoffs.
Model compatibility
- Does not accept batteries.
- Requires regulated 9V DC power supply.
