Table of contents

Quick guide from the manual

This document provides essential information for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Dimplex LA 1118C air-to-water heat pump. The heat pump is designed for outdoor installation and is intended for heating and cooling heating water in domestic environments.

Installation

The heat pump must be installed on a permanently level, smooth, and horizontal surface. The frame must lie tightly against the floor to ensure sound insulation and prevent small animals from entering. Ensure the air outlet direction is perpendicular to the main wind direction to allow for unrestricted defrosting. Maintain the minimum clearances to solid walls as specified in the manual (0.5m, 2.0m, 0.4m).

Condensate drainage

Condensed water must be drained off frost-free. The condensate pipe must have a minimum diameter of 50mm and be fed into a sewer in a frost-safe manner. Do not discharge condensate directly into clearing tanks or cess pits.

Assembly

Before connecting the heating system, flush the system to remove impurities, sealant residues, or other deposits. The heating system connections are located inside the device. Use a spanner to grip the transitions when connecting. The system must be filled, purged, and pressure-tested after installation.

Electrical connection

Three cables must be routed to the heat pump: a 5-core power cable, a 3-pole control cable, and a shielded communication line (J-Y(ST)Y ..LG). Ensure a clockwise rotating field for the power supply. An all-pole disconnecting device with at least 3mm contact gap must be installed.

Commissioning

Commissioning should be performed by an authorized service technician. Before starting, ensure all connections are installed, valves are open, air paths are clear, and the fan rotates in the correct direction. The heat pump is commissioned via the heat pump manager. If heating water temperatures are below 7°C, the water in the buffer tank must be heated to at least 18°C using a second heat generator.

Cleaning and maintenance

To protect the paintwork, avoid leaning objects against the device. Clean external parts with a damp cloth and mild cleaner; do not use sand, soda, acid, or chloride-based agents. Before each heating period, clean the evaporator, fan, and condensate drain of debris (leaves, twigs). Ensure the device is disconnected from the power supply before opening.

Troubleshooting

Faults are indicated on the heat pump manager display. If a fault occurs, consult the 'Faults and troubleshooting' section in the heat pump manager's operating instructions. If the fault cannot be corrected, contact an authorized service technician.
