Quick guide from the manual

The Dogtra 1900S Series is a remote-controlled dog training system. This manual provides essential instructions for safe operation, including proper collar fitting, stimulation adjustment, and battery maintenance. Always consult a professional trainer if you have concerns about training methods or if your dog is aggressive.

Device Overview

The system consists of a handheld transmitter and a receiver/collar. The transmitter features a rheostat intensity dial (levels 0-127), Nick and Constant stimulation buttons, and a Pager (vibration) button. The receiver/collar is waterproof and features an LED indicator for battery status and operation confirmation.

Collar Fitting

Proper fit is critical for effective training and to prevent skin irritation. The contact points must press firmly against the dog's skin. You should be able to fit one or two fingers snugly between the contact points and the dog's neck. The receiver should not move on the dog; the best location is on either side of the windpipe.

Operation and Stimulation

The 1900S offers 'Nick' (single pulse) and 'Constant' (continuous) stimulation. The intensity is controlled by the rheostat dial. Always start at the lowest level and increase gradually until the dog shows a mild reaction, such as tensing neck muscles. The Constant button will automatically shut off after 12 seconds as a safety feature.

Charging the Battery

The unit uses Lithium-Polymer batteries. Charge the unit fully before the first use. Recharge if the LED indicator is red, the transmitter LCD shows only 1 bar, or if the unit fails to turn on. A full charge takes 2 hours. Always cover the charging receptacles with rubber plugs after charging to maintain water resistance.

Maintenance

After each training session, inspect the unit for damage and clean off any dirt or debris. If the unit is to be stored for an extended period, charge it fully once a month. Store at room temperature and avoid extreme climates.

Practical help

Common problems

Dog is not reacting to the collar

Ensure the receiver is on, the collar is tight enough for contact, or increase the stimulation level. If the dog has a thick coat, consider longer contact points or trimming the hair.

LED light is on, but no stimulation is felt

Test the unit on your fingertips to verify function, ensure both contact points touch your skin, or check if the battery is low.

Transmitter has no range or weak stimulation

Avoid touching the antenna, as this significantly reduces range. Ensure you are in a clear line of sight and away from electrical conductors like metal buildings or radio towers.

Unit not holding a charge

Check if the charging pin is damaged or if the port is dirty. Clean the port with a cotton swab and rubbing alcohol.

Before use

  • Charge the unit fully for 2 hours before the first use.
  • Ensure the receiver/collar is turned on.
  • Check that the collar is fitted snugly so contact points touch the skin.
  • Verify the transmitter and receiver are paired and responsive.
  • Ensure rubber charging plugs are securely in place.
