This document provides essential instructions for the safe operation and maintenance of the Draper 125MM Dual Action Polisher (Stock No. 01816). It is intended for domestic and light commercial use. Always ensure the tool is disconnected from the power supply before performing any adjustments or maintenance.
Technical description
The polisher features a main handle, an on/off trigger switch, a variable speed control dial, and a hook and loop backing pad. The unit is supplied with a wrench and a hexagon key for assembly and maintenance.
Preparing the polisher
Adjusting the auxiliary handle: Loosen the two hex head bolts on either side of the handle using the supplied hexagon key. Adjust to the desired orientation for operator comfort and tighten securely.
Fitting the backing pad: Use the supplied wrench to hold the spindle nut. Turn the backing pad counter-clockwise to loosen it from the machine. To attach, reverse these steps. Ensure the distance ring is in place before attaching the backing pad.
Operating the polisher
To turn the machine on, push the ON/OFF switch forward to lock it in the 'on' position. To release, move the switch back to the original position. Use the variable speed control dial to adjust the speed according to the task:
- Settings 1-2: Waxing and buffering
- Settings 3-4: Polishing and cleaning
- Settings 5-6: Removing paint defects and oxidation
Important: Always test the speed setting and polishing medium on a small, inconspicuous area first. Do not apply excessive pressure, as this increases wear on internal components.
Maintenance
Periodically blow out all air passages with dry compressed air. Clean plastic parts with a soft, damp cloth; never use solvents. All repairs must be carried out by a qualified technician using original parts.
Safety
Always wear personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, a dust mask, and ear defenders. Keep the power cord away from the spinning accessory. Never operate the tool near flammable materials or use liquid coolants.

Motor does not start
Check the 13amp fuse or circuit breaker. If the issue persists, return to an authorised service agent.
Machine vibrates
The pad or bonnet may be damaged or out of balance. Replace the pad or bonnet.

- Ensure the auxiliary handle is securely tightened.
