Quick guide from the manual
This document provides essential safety and usage information for Edelrid slings and tapes (EN 565:2017 and EN 566:2017). These products are personal protective equipment (PPE) designed to protect against falls from height. Users must understand these instructions before use.

General Safety Notes
- Mountaineering and climbing involve inherent risks. Errors or carelessness can lead to severe injury or death.
- Use only with CE-marked PPE components.
- Do not modify or alter the product unless recommended in writing by the manufacturer.
- Inspect the product before and after every use for damage.
- If there is any doubt regarding the safety of the product, remove it from service immediately.
Product-Specific Information
- Knots: Use only suitable knots (e.g., webbing sling knots). Ensure protruding ends are at least 10 cm long. Note that knots can reduce the strength of slings by up to 50%.
- Loading: Webbing slings have no dynamic reserves and should be loaded statically only. Avoid potential fall loading.
- Abrasion: Avoid radial loading on seams and friction between textile components.
- Antitwist: When using an antitwist, ensure the carabiner is fed through the sling.
Lifespan and Replacement
The service life depends on usage frequency and external influences. Products made of synthetic fibers (Polyamide, Polyester, Dyneema, Aramid, Vectran) age even when not in use.
- Maximum service life (unused, optimal storage): 14 years.
- Maximum useful life (commercial/non-commercial): 10 years.
- Immediate replacement required if: Webbing edges are damaged, fibers are pulled, seams show abrasion, melting burns or discoloration occur, or the product has been subjected to a hard fall (fall factor >1).
- Wear Indicator: If the product has an integrated wear indicator, replace it immediately if wear exposes the internal fabric of a different color.
Storage, Transport, and Care
- Storage: Store in a cool, dry place, protected from daylight. Keep away from chemicals (especially battery acid). Avoid mechanical pressure or tension.
- Transport: Protect from direct sunlight, chemicals, dirt, and mechanical damage. Use a protective bag or special transport container.
- Cleaning: Clean with lukewarm water (use neutral soap if necessary). Alcohol-based disinfectants (e.g., isopropanol) may be used if needed.
- Climate: Continuous use temperature (in dry conditions) is approx. -35°C to +55°C.
