Quick guide from the manual
The FEIN GAL 1880 CV is an intelligent battery charger designed for FEIN AMPShare and partner Li-Ion batteries with a capacity of 2.0 Ah or more. The charging process is fully automatic, adjusting the current based on battery temperature and voltage to ensure optimal charging and battery longevity.
Operation
To start charging, plug the charger into a mains socket and insert the battery into the charging bay (1). The charger automatically detects the battery's state of charge and begins the charging process.
LED Indicator Meanings
- Flashing Green (3): Rapid charging is in progress. The battery can be removed at any time.
- Continuously Illuminated Green (3): The battery is fully charged.
- Continuously Illuminated Red (4): The battery temperature is outside the permitted charging range. Charging will begin automatically once the temperature is within the correct range.
- Flashing Red (4): A fault has occurred during the charging process.
Troubleshooting
- Red LED (4) flashing: Ensure the battery is correctly inserted. Clean the battery contacts (e.g., by inserting and removing the battery several times) or replace the battery if defective.
- No LEDs illuminated: Ensure the mains plug is fully inserted into the socket. Check the mains voltage or have the charger inspected by an authorized FEIN service center.
Maintenance and Cleaning
If the power cord requires replacement, it must be performed by FEIN or an authorized service center to avoid safety hazards. Clean the charger weekly if used frequently, ensuring the contacts are kept clean and dry, and that no metal chips enter the housing.
Battery Cooling (Active Air Cooling)
The charger features an integrated fan that monitors the temperature of the inserted battery. Cooling begins automatically when the battery temperature exceeds approximately 0 °C. If the fan does not run, it may be defective or the battery temperature is below 0 °C.
