Quick guide from the manual
This document provides essential operating instructions for the FEIN 18V Cordless Nibbler. It is designed for cutting sheet metal, cut-outs, and tight curves without water supply in weather-protected environments. Always read the full manual and general safety instructions before use.
Device Operation
Ensure the tool is switched on before bringing it into contact with the workpiece. Hold the tool as upright as possible to the surface while cutting. Guide the tool uniformly with light feed pressure; excessive force reduces the lifespan of the punch and die.
- Do not cut sheet metal at weld points.
- Do not cut layered sheets exceeding the maximum material thickness.
- For inside cuts, a pilot hole is required (see Technical Data for diameters).
- Apply lubricant along the cutting line to extend tool life: cutting paste/oil for steel, petroleum for aluminum.
Battery Handling
Store, operate, and charge the battery only with FEIN chargers within the temperature range of 5 °C – 45 °C (41 °F – 113 °F). The battery's actual charge percentage is only displayed when the motor is stopped. The electronics automatically stop the motor to prevent deep discharge.
Maintenance
Under extreme conditions, conductive dust may settle inside the tool. Frequently blow out the interior through ventilation slots using dry, oil-free compressed air. Lightly grease the sliding surfaces between the die holder and the punch. Punch and die cannot be reground.
Safety
Always wear personal protective equipment, including eye and ear protection. Secure the workpiece firmly. Do not rivet or screw nameplates onto the tool, as this damages insulation. Keep the battery clean and protected from moisture.
