Quick guide from the manual
This document provides instructions for the application of Force Connex Hot Wax (375g) to bicycle chains. The process involves degreasing the chain, heating the wax, immersing the chain, and allowing it to cool properly to ensure a durable, low-friction coating.
Preparation and Application
- Degreasing: Thoroughly degrease the chain to remove any existing lubricants. Repeat the process if necessary to ensure the metal is completely clean.
- Drying: Allow the chain to dry completely before immersion.
- Heating: Heat the wax to 90 °C. Do not exceed 100 °C.
- Immersion: Submerge the chain in the wax bath for approximately 2 minutes.
- Temperature Adjustment: After the initial immersion, reduce the wax temperature to 60 °C until a slight film becomes visible on the surface.
- Removal: Remove the chain from the bath and allow it to drain over the wax container.
- Cooling and Finishing: Let the chain cool for at least 2 hours. Once cooled, flex each chain link to break the hardened wax and ensure smooth movement.
Safety and Maintenance
Always observe the safety warnings provided by the manufacturer of your degreasing agents. Ensure the wax is not overheated beyond 100 °C to prevent degradation or safety hazards.

Common problems
Ensure you have flexed each individual chain link after the 2-hour cooling period to break the hardened wax.
Ensure the chain was thoroughly degreased and completely dry before immersion in the wax bath.
Before use
- Degrease the chain thoroughly
- Ensure the chain is completely dry
- Verify wax temperature is at 90 °C
- Prepare a cooling area for the chain
Specs in practice
- Heating Temperature
- 90 °C is the target temperature for melting the wax; do not exceed 100 °C.
- Application Time
- Approximately 2 minutes of immersion is required for the wax to penetrate the chain links.
- Cooling Time
- At least 2 hours are required for the wax to set properly before the chain is ready for use.
Model compatibility
- Suitable for bicycle chains requiring hot wax lubrication.
