Quick guide from the manual
This document provides essential installation, operation, and maintenance instructions for the Forte Cortivo 120V cooker hood. Always ensure the unit is disconnected from the power supply before performing any maintenance. The hood must be installed at least 26 inches (65 cm) above a gas hob.
Operation
The hood features a multispeed motor controlled by buttons on the front panel:

- TL: Turns the illumination on and off.
- T1: Turns the hood on at first speed or turns the aspirator off.
- T2-T4: Selects the second, third, and fourth speeds.
To turn off the aspirator from a higher speed, press T1 twice.
Adjustable and delayed self-switching off
With the hood running, press and hold the TL button until the speed LEDs flash. Then, press T1 (5 min), T2 (10 min), T3 (15 min), or T4 (20 min) to set the delay timer.
Installation
The hood can be installed in two modes: Exhausting (external evacuation) or Filtering (recirculating). Ensure the installation surface is strong and use the provided fixings (suspension blocks, locking anchors, and wall bracket). The unit must be properly grounded; do not use an extension cord.
Maintenance
Regular cleaning is critical to prevent fire hazards:
- Metal Grease Filters: Wash at least once a month in hot water with detergent or in a dishwasher. Ensure they are perfectly dry before reinstalling.
- Charcoal Filters (Filtering mode only): These cannot be washed and must be replaced 2-3 times a year. Remove the metal grease filters first, then rotate the charcoal filters 90 degrees to release them.
- Exterior Cleaning: Clean with a damp sponge and neutral detergent. Avoid abrasive sponges or acid/basic products.
Maintenance Alerts
The hood includes automatic reminders:
- Grease Filter Alert: After 30 hours of use, all speed LEDs light up for 30 seconds. Reset by holding T4 with the fan off.
- Charcoal Filter Alert: After 120 hours of use, all speed LEDs light up for 30 seconds. Reset by holding T4 with the fan off.
Practical help
Common problems
Clean the metal grease filters and reset the timer by pressing and holding the T4 button while the fan is off.
Replace the charcoal filters (if in filtering mode) and reset the timer by pressing and holding the T4 button while the fan is off.
This is a normal phenomenon when using the hood above an induction hob and does not indicate a malfunction.
Before use
- Verify that the voltage and frequency match your local power supply.
- Ensure the hood is connected to a properly grounded outlet.
- Check that the minimum distance of 26 inches (65 cm) from the gas hob is maintained.
- Remove any protective film from the stainless steel surfaces.
- Confirm that the installation surface is strong enough to support the unit.
Specs in practice
- Exhausting vs. Filtering
- Exhausting vents air outside via a flue; Filtering recirculates air back into the kitchen through charcoal filters.

Model compatibility
- Not intended for use with solid-state speed control devices.
- Must not be installed over stoves with an upper radiating plate.
- Charcoal filters are available as an optional accessory for the filtering version.
