This manual provides instructions for the Hamilton Beach 20L Manual Microwave. It is intended for domestic use only. Ensure the appliance is placed in a dry, non-corrosive area with adequate ventilation (10 cm at the back, 5 cm at the sides, and 20 cm above). Always ensure the appliance is properly earthed before use.

Product Overview

The microwave features a door lock, viewing window, rotating ring, rotating axis, turntable, control panel, waveguide cover, and a door release button. Refer to the diagram on page 6 for specific component locations.

Control Panel

The control panel consists of two main dials:

• Power Dial: Used to select the desired cooking power level (6 levels available).
• Timer Dial: Used to set the cooking duration, up to 30 minutes per session.

Turning the power dial clockwise increases the power level. Power levels range from Low (20%) to High (100%).

Using Your Appliance

Starting a Cooking Session:

1. Place the food in the oven and securely close the door.
2. Turn the Power Selector dial to choose the desired power level.
3. Use the Timer knob to set the appropriate cooking time.

Notes:

• The oven starts cooking as soon as the timer is turned.
• For times under 2 minutes, turn the timer past the 2-minute mark, then return it to the desired time.
• To stop the microwave during cooking, press the door release button.
• Always return the timer to the zero position when removing food before the set time ends or when the microwave is not in use.

Utensils Guide

Use microwave-safe containers made of heat-resistant ceramic, glass, or plastic. Avoid metal containers, as they may cause sparks. Never use plastic film that touches high-fat foods, as it may melt.

Cooking Tips

• Food Arrangement: Place thicker sections of food towards the outer edges of the dish and thinner parts in the centre.
• Standing Time: Allow food to stand for a few minutes after cooking to finish the process and enable even heat distribution.
• Checking Doneness: Ensure steam is rising from all parts of the dish. Poultry joints should move easily, and fish should appear opaque.

Cleaning & Care

Always disconnect the appliance from the power outlet and allow it to cool down completely before cleaning.

• Clean the interior with a damp cloth, using mild detergent if needed.
• Wipe the exterior, avoiding water in ventilation openings.
• Regularly clean the door, seals, and window with a damp cloth.
• Avoid abrasive cleaners and steam cleaners.
• To remove odours, microwave water with lemon juice.

Safety Warnings

• Do not heat liquids or sealed containers, as they may explode.
• Do not use if the door or seals are damaged.
• Only trained individuals should perform repairs involving microwave protection covers.
• Do not place the appliance in a cabinet; it is for free-standing use only.
