This document provides essential installation, wiring, and maintenance procedures for Hitachi Ductable Split Air-conditioners ranging from 1.5TR to 4.0TR. Key requirements include maintaining a downward slope for condensate drainage, adhering to specific wire gauge specifications for electrical connections, and using R410A refrigerant with appropriate vacuum evacuation procedures.
Condensate Drain Piping
The condensate drain must be installed with a downward slope of 1/25 to 1/100 to ensure proper water flow. Insulation with a minimum thickness of 8mm is required. If ambient humidity exceeds 80%, an auxiliary drain pan (field-supplied) must be installed beneath the cooling unit.

Electrical Wiring
Ensure all electrical work complies with local codes. Use the recommended wire sizes and MCB ratings based on the unit capacity (1.5TR, 2.0TR, 3.0TR, or 4.0TR). Always earth the unit properly. When connecting the mains cord and connecting cord, strip the insulation, crimp the appropriate lugs, and secure connections to the terminal block as indicated in the wiring diagrams. Ensure the power switch is locked in the OFF position during servicing.

Refrigerant Piping
Use only the specified pipe sizes and insulation (Nitrile Material 8mm thick). Perform flaring work carefully. Before charging, evacuate the system using a vacuum pump until the gauge shows < 4mbar for 1 hour. If the pipe length exceeds 5 meters, add 20g of refrigerant per meter. Note that gauge manifolds for R410A systems must be different from those used for R22 systems due to pressure differences.
Maintenance
Clean the air filter every 15 days to prevent dust accumulation, which can reduce airflow and cooling capacity. To clean: remove the filter, vacuum the dust, or wash with neutral detergent and clean water. Dry in the shade before reinstalling. Do not wash with water hotter than 40°C.
Troubleshooting
If the unit fails to cool, check the power supply, MCB rating, and ensure the handset is set to ON mode. If cooling is insufficient, check for obstructions, ensure windows and doors are closed, remove sources of external heat, and clean the air filter.

Practical help
Common problems
Check main power supply, MCB rating, handset mode (ensure it is ON), and verify wiring connections.
Check temperature settings, ensure windows/doors are closed, remove obstructions to airflow, clean the air filter, and remove external heat sources.
Before use
- Ensure stop valves are closed before starting installation.
- Verify electrical components match the recommended wire specifications.
- Confirm MCB rating matches the unit capacity (1.5TR-4.0TR).
- Ensure proper earthing for all units.
- Check refrigerant piping for leaks using a vacuum pump.
