Quick guide from the manual
This manual covers the operation and maintenance of the Husqvarna 129C, 129L, and 129LK grass trimmers/brushcutters. Always ensure the product is fully assembled before use and maintain a safe distance of at least 15 meters from other people or animals.
Assembly
Follow these steps to assemble your trimmer:
- Loop handle: Attach to the shaft between the arrows and tighten.
- Two-piece shaft: Loosen the coupling knob, align the tab with the arrow, push in until it clicks, and tighten the knob.
- Cutting attachment: Attach the guard to the shaft. For straight shafts, attach the drive disc, lock the shaft with a small screwdriver, and tighten the trimmer head counterclockwise. For curved shafts, attach the guard, dust cup, and tighten the trimmer head clockwise.
Operation
Use a 50:1 (2%) mixture of gasoline and two-cycle engine oil. Always use a clean fuel container and do not mix more than a 30-day supply.
Starting the engine
- Push the primer bulb 10 times.
- Pull the choke control up.
- Hold the product on the ground with your left hand. Pull the starter rope handle slowly until resistance is felt, then pull with force.
- Once the engine starts or tries to start, push the choke control down.
- If the engine starts, press the throttle trigger lightly and let it warm up for 60 seconds.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance is essential for product longevity and safety. Key tasks include:
- Weekly: Clean external surfaces, check idle speed, and check bevel gear grease (straight shaft).
- Monthly: Check starter rope and handle.
- Yearly: Check spark plug, apply grease to the drive shaft end (two-piece shaft), clean carburetor area, clean cooling system, check spark arrester screen, check fuel filter, and check all cables/connections.
Troubleshooting
If the engine is difficult to start or operate, check the spark plug for unwanted materials, ensure the air filter is clean, and verify the fuel mixture is correct.
