Table of contents

Quick guide from the manual

This document provides essential instructions for the safe and efficient operation of the Husqvarna 129R brushcutter and trimmer. Key safety requirements include maintaining a 15-meter (50 ft) distance from other people or animals, wearing approved personal protective equipment (helmet, hearing protection, eye protection, gloves, and sturdy boots), and ensuring the product is fully assembled before use. Always hold the product with both hands on the right side of your body.

Assembly

Follow these steps for initial setup:

  • Handlebar: Remove the screw behind the throttle handle, move the handle to the right side of the handlebar, align the holes, and tighten the screw. Install mounting components between the arrows on the shaft.
  • Harness Clamp: Place the upper and lower harness clamps above the arrow on the shaft, align the screw holes, and tighten.
  • Cutting Attachment: Attach the guard to the shaft, install the drive disc, lock the shaft with a hex key, and install the blade or trimmer head. Tighten the locknut in the opposite direction of rotation (left-hand thread).

Operation

The 129R uses a 2-cycle engine requiring a 50:1 (2%) gasoline/oil mixture. Always use fresh, unleaded gasoline (min. 90 RON/87 AKI, max. 10% ethanol). Before starting, perform a pre-start check: inspect for loose or damaged parts, check the blades, locknut, air filter, and ensure no fuel leaks exist.

Starting a cold engine

  1. Press the primer bulb 10 times.
  2. Pull the choke control up.
  3. Hold the product on the ground with your left hand (do not step on it). Pull the starter rope handle slowly until resistance is felt, then pull with force.
  4. Once the engine starts or tries to start, push the choke control down.
  5. If the engine starts, press the throttle trigger lightly and let it run for 60 seconds to warm up.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for performance and safety. Weekly tasks include cleaning external surfaces, checking idle speed, and inspecting the bevel gear grease and locknut. Monthly, check the starter rope and handle. Yearly, inspect the spark plug, clean the cooling system, and check the spark arrester screen, fuel filter, and fuel hoses.

Technical Data

The 129R features a 27.6 cm³ cylinder displacement, 2800-3200 min⁻¹ idling speed, and 0.85 kW power output. The product weight (excluding cutting equipment) is 5.98 kg.
