This manual provides essential operating and maintenance instructions for the Husqvarna 130BT, 170BT, and 170BF blowers. Always read the full manual before use to ensure safe operation and to prevent serious injury. The machine is designed exclusively for blowing lawns, pathways, and asphalt roads.

Safety

Always wear hearing protection, approved eye protection, protective gloves, and non-slip boots. Maintain a safe distance of at least 50 feet (15 meters) from bystanders and animals. Never operate the machine in unventilated areas due to carbon monoxide exhaust fumes. Do not use the blower while on a ladder or scaffolding.

Assembly

Follow these steps to assemble your unit:

• Swivel Joint: Connect the blower and swivel joint with the flexible hose, clamping both ends securely.
• Throttle Lever: Match the holder to the convex on the swivel joint, tighten the screw, and adjust for a comfortable position.
• Blower Tubes: Align the protrusion and groove on the tube ends and twist until locked.
• Harness: Always wear the harness and adjust side straps for even weight distribution.
• Waist Belt (170BT/170BF only): Attach to the frame rings and tighten the buckle in front.

Fuel

Use a 50:1 gasoline-to-oil mixture. Use only high-quality oil formulated for air-cooled 2-cycle engines (JASO FC or ISO EGC grade). Never use BIA or TCW water-cooling type oil. Always mix fuel in a clean, approved container and agitate thoroughly before refueling. Stop the engine and allow it to cool before refueling on bare ground.

Operation

To start the engine:

1. Push the primer bulb until fuel flows through the clear tube.
2. Close the choke if the engine is cold.
3. Set the throttle lever to approximately 1/3 open position.
4. Pull the starter knob slowly until engagement is felt, then pull vigorously.
5. Once running, gradually open the choke and let the engine warm up at idle speed.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance is critical for performance and safety. Key tasks include:

• Air Cleaner: Inspect/clean before use. Wash the element in warm soapy water weekly.
• Fuel Filter: Check periodically for clogging.
• Spark Plug: Inspect every 25 hours; clean electrodes and adjust the gap to 0.025 in (0.6-0.7 mm).
• Muffler/Spark Arrester: Periodically inspect for carbon buildup and clean with a wire brush.

Storage

Drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops to empty the carburetor. Remove the spark plug, add a spoonful of 2-cycle oil into the cylinder, crank the engine, and reinstall the plug. Store in a dry, dust-free place out of reach of children.
