Quick guide from the manual
This document provides essential operating and maintenance instructions for Husqvarna 130BT, 150BT/BF, 170BT/BF, and 180BT/BF blowers. Always read the full manual before use to ensure safe operation and prevent serious injury.
Safety precautions
- Always wear hearing protection, approved eye protection, protective gloves, and sturdy, non-slip boots.
- Keep bystanders and animals at least 50 feet (15 meters) away.
- Do not operate the machine if you are tired, ill, or under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Never modify the machine design; use only genuine accessories.
- The machine is designed exclusively for blowing lawns, pathways, and asphalt roads.
Assembly
Blower tubes: Align the protrusion and groove on tube ends and twist to lock. A light lubricant may ease assembly.
Harness and waist belt: Adjust the harness for a comfortable working position with weight evenly distributed. The waist belt (not available on 130BT) should be tightened around the waist, not the stomach, with the buckle fastened in front.
Fuel
Use a 50:1 mixture of unleaded gasoline (minimum 89 RON / 87 AL) and high-quality oil formulated for air-cooled 2-cycle engines. Do not use BIA or TCW (water-cooling type) oil. Always mix fuel in a clean, approved container and agitate thoroughly before fueling.
Starting the engine
- Push the primer bulb until fuel flows through the clear tube.
- If the engine is cold, close the choke.
- Set the throttle lever to the idling position (about 1/3 open).
- Hold the blower firmly and pull the starter knob until it engages, then pull vigorously.
- Once running, gradually open the choke and let the engine warm up at idle for one minute.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance is critical for engine longevity. Key tasks include:
- Air cleaner: Inspect/clean before each use. Wash the element in a non-flammable cleaning solution (or neutral detergent for 150BT/BF) and dry. For 150BT/BF, moisten with a small amount of 2-cycle oil.
- Fuel filter: Check periodically for clogs.
- Spark plug: Inspect every 25 hours. Gap should be 0.025 in (0.6-0.7 mm).
- Muffler/Spark arrester: Inspect and clean carbon buildup periodically.
Storage
Drain the fuel tank and run the engine until it stops. Remove the spark plug, add a spoonful of 2-cycle oil into the cylinder, crank the engine, and reinstall the plug. Store in a dry, cool, dark, and well-ventilated place.

Before use
- Inspect the entire unit for loose fasteners or damage.
- Check fuel lines, exhaust, and ignition wiring.
- Ensure the air inlet net is attached and undamaged.
- Verify the air cleaner is clean.
- Check that the muffler is properly secured.
Specs in practice
