This manual provides essential instructions for the safe operation and maintenance of the Husqvarna 15530SB-LS snow thrower. Always observe safety rules, keep the area clear of bystanders, and never use your hands to clear a clogged discharge chute. Use the provided clean-out tool instead.

Assembly and Setup

Your snow thrower is partially assembled at the factory. Follow these steps to complete the setup:

• Unfold Upper Handle: Raise the handle to the operating position and tighten the knobs securely.
• Install Control Rods: Attach the speed control rod, traction drive control rod, and auger control rod according to the diagrams provided in the manual.
• Install Discharge Chute: Mount the chute assembly and chute rotator head to the chute base.
• Install Chute Deflector Remote Control: Attach the remote cable bracket and eyelet to the deflector.
• Check Tire Pressure: Ensure tires are inflated to 14-17 PSI.

Operation

Familiarize yourself with the controls before starting:

• Starting: Insert the safety ignition key, set throttle to FAST, rotate choke to FULL (for cold starts), and use the electric start button or recoil starter handle.
• Stopping: Move throttle to STOP and remove the safety ignition key.
• Steering: Use the LH and RH turn triggers on the underside of the handles to disengage the drive wheel on that side for easier turning.
• Snow Discharge: Use the discharge chute control lever to change direction and the deflector control lever to adjust distance.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance is crucial for performance and longevity:

• Before Each Use: Check engine oil level, check for loose fasteners, and ensure controls function properly.
• Engine Oil: Use SAE 5W-30 or 10W-30 (API SG-SL). Change oil after the first 25 hours or at least once a year.
• Belts: Check belts for wear every 50 hours. Replace with OEM belts if they slip or show deterioration.
• Shear Bolts: If the auger or impeller stops turning, check the shear bolts. Replace broken bolts with original equipment parts only.

Storage

Prepare the unit for storage if it will not be used for 30 days or more:

• Clean the unit thoroughly.
• Empty the fuel tank by running the engine until it stops, or use a fuel stabilizer.
• Remove the spark plug and pour one ounce of oil into the cylinder, then pull the recoil starter slowly to distribute the oil.
• Store in a clean, dry area.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues, check the following:

• Does not start: Check fuel level, ensure ignition key is inserted, check choke position, and ensure spark plug wire is connected.
• Loss of power: Check for loose spark plug wire, reduce speed/width of swath, or clean a clogged muffler.
• Excessive vibration: Tighten all fasteners and inspect augers/impeller for damage.
• Loss of traction: Check or replace the drive belt.
