This manual provides essential instructions for the safe operation, assembly, and maintenance of the Husqvarna TS 146XKD lawn tractor. Always read and understand the safety rules before operating the machine. Key safety precautions include keeping children away from the mowing area, operating only on slopes up to 15 degrees, and never mowing across slopes.

Safety Rules

• Children: Never allow children to operate the machine. Keep them out of the mowing area and under the care of a responsible adult.
• Slope Operation: Mow up and down slopes, not across. Do not exceed a 15-degree angle. If you feel uneasy, do not mow the slope.
• Towing: Tow only with machines equipped with a proper hitch. Do not allow passengers on towed equipment.
• Gasoline Handling: Gasoline is highly flammable. Allow the engine to cool before refueling and never refuel indoors.

Assembly

The tractor is factory-assembled except for specific shipping parts. Tools required include a socket wrench set, tire pressure gauge, utility knife, and pliers.

• Battery: Connect the positive (red) cable first, then the negative (black) cable.
• Seat: Adjust the seat so you can comfortably reach the brake and forward/reverse pedals.
• Tire Pressure: Reduce tire pressure to the PSI shown on the tires, as they are overinflated at the factory for shipping.

Operation

Familiarize yourself with the controls, including the attachment lift lever, brake pedal, parking brake, throttle/choke control, and drive pedals. Always operate the engine at full throttle for best performance.

• Starting: Ensure the freewheel control is in the engaged position, sit in the seat, depress the brake pedal, and set the parking brake.
• Mowing: Select the desired cutting height using the attachment lift lever. Engage the mower blades using the attachment clutch control.
• Reverse Operation System (ROS): If you must mow in reverse, turn the ignition key to the ROS "ON" position.
• Transporting: Place the freewheel control in the disengaged position to push or tow the tractor at speeds no greater than 2 mph (3.2 km/h).

Maintenance

Follow the maintenance schedule to ensure the longevity of your tractor. Key tasks include:

• Engine Oil: Check before each use. Change every 50 hours or once a season.
• Blade Care: Keep blades sharp and replace if bent or damaged.
• Cleaning: Keep the tractor free of grass, leaves, and debris. Use the deck washout port after each use.
• Air Filter: Service more often in dusty conditions.

Troubleshooting

If the engine fails to start, check the fuel level, spark plug, air filter, and battery charge. If the mower deck produces an uneven cut, check for worn or bent blades, level the deck, or clean debris from under the mower housing.
