This manual provides essential instructions for the safe operation and maintenance of the Husqvarna 128LD and 128CD grass trimmers. Always wear personal protective equipment, including hearing protection, eye protection, sturdy boots, and long pants. Keep bystanders at least 50 feet (15 meters) away during operation.

Assembly

Fitting the loop handle: Position the handle on the upper shaft between the two arrows. Secure with the screw, plate, and wing nut.

Shaft assembly: Loosen the coupling knob, insert the attachment into the coupling until the locking button snaps into the primary hole, and tighten the knob securely.

Trimmer guard and head: Attach the guard to the shaft using the provided bolt. For the 128LD, fit the drive disc, lock the shaft with a hex wrench, and screw on the trimmer head. For the 128CD, fit the dust cup and screw on the trimmer head.

Fuel Handling

The machine uses a two-stroke engine requiring a mixture of gasoline and two-stroke oil. Use a 2% (1:50) ratio. Always mix in a clean container and shake well before filling. Do not refuel while the engine is running or hot.

Starting and Stopping

Cold engine: Press the primer bulb 10 times. Move the choke lever to the closed position. Hold the machine on the ground, pull the starter rope until the engine attempts to start, move the choke to the 1/2 position, pull until it runs, then move to the open position.

Warm engine: Move the choke lever to the 1/2 position and pull the starter rope until the engine runs, then move to the open position.

Stopping: Push and hold the stop switch until the engine stops.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance is required to ensure optimal performance and safety. Key tasks include:

• Carburetor: Idle speed should be adjusted so the cutting attachment does not rotate at idle.
• Air filter: Clean every 25 hours or more frequently in dusty conditions. Replace if damaged.
• Spark plug: Check and clean or replace monthly. Electrode gap should be 0.024 inch (0.6 mm).
• Bevel gear (128LD): Check that it is filled 3/4 full with special grease.
• Muffler: Check the spark arrestor mesh regularly and clean or replace if damaged.

Trimmer Head Line Loading

Follow the specific steps in the manual to wind the trimmer line. Ensure the line is wound tightly and evenly around the drum to prevent harmful vibrations. Use the recommended line diameter (2.4-2.7 mm / .095-.106 inch).

Technical Data

The 128LD and 128CD models feature a 28cc engine. Idle speed is 2,800-3,200 rpm. Recommended maximum speed is 10,000 rpm for the 128CD and 11,000 rpm for the 128LD. Always use genuine Husqvarna parts for repairs.
