The Ideal 102x Luminaire Disconnect is a current-rated device designed for lighting fixture installations. Important: The wire insertion side of this product is for ONE TIME USE ONLY. Do not remove and replace wires once inserted. Always turn off power at the circuit breaker or remove the fuse before installing or removing the disconnect.

Safety warnings

  • Copper to copper only: Do not use on aluminum wiring.
  • Current rating: This device is rated for 600 Volts and 6 Amps maximum. Using it in applications exceeding these ratings can cause electrical fires.
  • Temperature: Maximum temperature rating is 105°C (221°F).
  • Compliance: Wiring must comply with all applicable local building and electrical codes.

Installation instructions

  1. Turn off power at the circuit breaker or remove the fuse.
  2. Strip wires to 3/8 inch (9.5 mm). For 18 AWG wire, you may strip between 3/8 inch and 1/2 inch.
  3. Ensure no copper is exposed on any of the wires inserted.
  4. Ballast Side (Gray Cap): Grip the black ballast wire firmly and push it into the gray cap ports marked with black. Grip the white ballast wire firmly and push it into the ports marked with white on the same side of the connector.
  5. Line Side (Orange Cap): Grip the black supply wire firmly and push it into the port opposite the black ballast wire (marked with a black circle). Grip the white supply wire firmly and push it into the remaining port.
  6. Use only one conductor per port.

De-mating and mating

To separate the disconnect halves (de-mate), grasp the disconnect at each end and pull apart. Do not pull on the wires. To reconnect (mate), grasp each half, align them, and push together until the connection is secure.
